It gets more and more complicated now.
I saw a few demo's and the Bravia V series(Live picture model with 12000:1 dynamic contrast ratio) is 54000, but image quality is comparable to the 47000 LG 32LC7R.
So here are the options again
1. Samsung R8(Bordeux) 51000
2. LG 32LC7R 47000
3. Panasonic 32LE7 + XBOX 360 + 2 Game CDs= 50000

Now you can understand my confusion. Paying the same price I get a XBOX 360 LCD.

I searched online for reviews, but its even more complicated than camera reviews! Please hellllp

Based on your previous post and current post, looks like the dealer is hardly selling for Panasonic model, so be careful. In terms of spec, of course Sony is better than other models you have listed. Why don't you visit few other shops (if you have not) who might be focusing on other brands, which will help you to understand the pros & cons of panasonic model.

Were you able to look at these models next to each other with your frequently watched channels played. if you are satisfied with Panasonic then go ahead with the purchase. don't make a decision with out the comparing next to each other at the same level & lighting.

Please share if any of you could access Panasonic India website for LCD Models

Panasonic India thats the Panasonic site.

The Panasonic plasma sold in most shops are the 8th or 9th generation. these are sold for a lesser price. The new 10th generation plasma is available in panasonic showrooms.

they have a latest 32" LCD model which I found to be better than most other LCD's available. (Haven't checked out Sharp yet)

The XBOX offer is in a different shop.
The 32LE7 was introduced in the middle east in June 2007.
Its a lower spec model, but the response time of 5ms looks real good. Even if its half response time, actual response time will be 10ms, which is quite good.

Ideally I would like to get a nice LCD TV for around 35-38000(32").
contrast ratio does not make much of a difference since I won't be watching movies in dark rooms, so anything above 1000:1 (not dynamic, but active CR) will do.
Most of these LCD tvs have 1000+ contrast ratio(active) with Sony and LG boasting 2000:1.
Even if I watch in candlelight, a CR of 600:1 will be sufficient.

As for watching, me and my wife we both watched different TVs with same demo CD.Most LCD tvs have similar quality, with samsung bordeaux faster.

I think 100Hz will be a good idea. Is the R8 100Hz?

That was exactly what I had in my mind but then there are two problems...
1. The existing 32" LCD TV ranges from 45k upwards.
2. The existing LCD TV range do not have that nice feeling

Unless I get a really good deal, I would probably wait for another year for the above 2 points to get taken care of.

Samsung R8 series is not 100 Hz. By default most current TVs are not, unless it is explicitly stated.

As per some reviews Sharp is one TV which seems to be ahead of all in LCD race, however I haven;t seen one myself lately. If any one has seen it please post your reviews with best prices.

Panasonic 32LE7 can be had for that price. Its HD read, has 2 HDMI ports and image quality was good.
LG model was for around 46000, I think we can bargain to 44 maybe?

I am seriously contemplating getting an ordinary flat screen 29" and upgrading the computer with the cash saved.

You mean the effective price including the Xbox???
Or is the dealer willing to just give off the TV and give cash discount against Xbox? I do not want an XBOX!

32LE7 is an old model and without xbox is around 39000, the 32LX70, which is a newer model is around 45000

I bought the LG 32LC7R, cost me 42500. Interest free EMI scheme with zero down payment.
Also got a free gift(a hand blender) worth around 1000 maybe(MRP)

Have basic cable at home, so won't really enjoy it unless for DVDs.
Older TV had gone Kaput, watched TV after months today.
I realized that we did not miss much by not watching TV for so long

I have seen the charts available on the net, but I would like to hear from your own personal experiences.

32" seems to small, 40" seems to big, to me 37" seems right, but then not many mfgs have it in that size...
Even I have a similar requirement. I have checked out Hitachi 37 LD9000TA. I found it pretty good. Have not seen many other respectable brands in that size range. Plans to finalise next week.

Yes, even I found 37" as best fit.

What is the price of Hitachi? Did you compare it against Samsung Bordeaux Art 37" LCD? Samsung 37" is available for 66k incl Tata Sky.

Do keep me informed, may be together we can squeeze a better discount

Image quality just rocks. I am using normal cable. Even DVD is really good, I am tempted to get a newer DVD player with component out, instead of simple aux out!

Hey guys, this is a looong thread.... i got lost after the first 100!!
I'd like to buy a 32" LCD, and have narrowed it down to the following:
- Samsung Bordeaux Art: 49k (with Tata Sky)
- Sony Bravia S Series: 45k
- Sony Bravia V Series: 52k

It was between the Samsung and Sony S initially, but currently there is a heavy discount on the Sony V which has made me think about it.

Saw the whole gamut of LCDs placed next to each other, and Sony V seemed to be the best of the lot. The Samsung was also pretty good.
Now the question is, should I opt for the Samsung and get a Rs. 3000 Tata Sky box free, or should I think about one the Sony's?

And if there is another brand I should be considering, pls let me know.
Thanks!

Considering the fact that you will keep the LCD for atleast 5 years, why compromise for 3,000 and a settop box?

So are you saying that the Sony V is much superior to the Samsung?
Or does Samsung provide a similar quality LCD TV at a lesser price with more incentives (set-top box)?
