| BHPian | Today I visited many places and Samsung 40R8 seems better buy - two shops are quoting ~75K, bargain is in progress. It's not full HD, but the full HD model costs ~92K :-( - too much for me. Sony, of course, is best among but too expensive. LG has good spec (42" comes for same price as Samsung 40") but currently anything beyond 40" can't fit in my hall. I guess others like Philips, Panasonic may not be that good. Is Samsung 40R8 a good buy for ~75K? |

| Senior - BHPian | @Razor and I checked out the new LG 32 Plasma. Although I'm no expert here, but must say it's pretty good for it's price. We compared with a 32 LCD and two other 42 plasmas. List price is 40K. Discounted price 38.5K - without any bargaining.

| Yes, @st7677 is correct, 40R8 is not Full HD, 40M8 is!In a side by side LCD compare in the same price band, the 40R8 comes up trumps against Sony, LG, etc. Sharp, Toshiba are costlier. Maybe that's what you should do - a side by side compare. If they sense your seriousness about buying, the dealer will oblige. If they don't, not much point in buying from that shop.

| Guys, I am looking for a 32" LCD-TV. I have shortlisted LG-32LC7 and Panasonic-32LX75. Both of these are relatively recent models and satisfy my budget and connectivity requirements (PC input, 2xHDMI and sufficient analog connectivity). Any opinions on Pana-LX75. I am asking as I might have overlooked an important feature, which a fellow-bhpian might have noticed Thanks, Su-47

| No, but friends of mine recently bought both PV7 and PV70. Got converted from LCD bandwagon to Plasma few weeks back. Now, I am waiting for next generation (8/80 series) to arrive in India, as the international reviews suggest it has black level as good as Pioneer Kuro (which retails at 1.4 lacs in India) and is really really good. Since Panasonic is sponsoring Beijing Olympics, I assume new range should be launch in India by that time and price should remain at current level or may fall further. I am not in any hurry. |

| Hi guys...some advice here. Im planning to buy a LCD tv for my PS3 and for my DishTV, and Im a little confused about which to buy. People keep saying Sony Bravia and then few other people mentioned to go for the Panasonic or Sharp Aquus as they are better value for money (and they are 100hz) However a few of them mentioned Samsung for amazing after sales service. It is OK if I dont get a #1 TV in picture quality- However, I would want the best after sales customer support and durability of product. Keeping this in mind, any recommendations? Thanks |

| silverbyte, I dont think you need to worry much about after sales service. Once you get a good hi-powered voltage stabilizer (V-Guard Digital 100 or 200)there is not much that can go wrong with the TV. On the TV front 100 Hz is anyday much better than 60 Hz, best is take an Action DVD which has some very colorful scenes and ask them to play it and decide for yourself. Sony D-Series is supposed to have motion blur correction, But if you are going for a 100hz model I guess you wont have to worry much about this. Picture wise Samsung is as good. Remember one thing showrooms display the TV's with the default factory settings, however these TV's have a wide spectrum of color settings which you can change to match your taste. There are calibration DVD's which have step by step instructions on how to set the optimum picture. -Fillmore |

| thanks for the reply fillmore!! I got to know of the recommended stabilizer brands... However, given Toshiba Regza, Samsung Bordeaux, Sony Bravia and LG Xcanvas, Panasonic, Philips... which would you buy just because you can stuff repaired easily, cheaply and quickly? Every day LCD technology is being improved.. there is no use in trying to get the _best_ picture because it will be obsolete soon anyway. However, I do want to try and get a decent after sales service. I have need for just one HDMI interface (PS3).. I'm not too kicked about multiple HDMI... however I would like to ask all you gurus opinion about LCD tvs with very customizable picture setting (so I can use a setup DVD to configure picture quality very easily) thanks in advance |

| Senior - BHPian | Silverbyte, looking at your requirements, i would recommend a Samsung Bordeaux straightaway. Very good VFM and great looking product. I am using a 40 inch from past 4 months and quite happy with it.

I know a few of my friends who have bought Sony Televisions through them. For some items if you know the guy they'll give you a week's warranty. Otherwise its only good until opened !! If you insist on a bill the rates go up. :-)

Yes, @st7677 is correct, 40R8 is not Full HD, 40M8 is!
