I got the PV7 - it has just one HDMI input. Thats enough for me considering that I dont have a single source of HD video yet

Anyone seen the current Samsung 42 Plasma?

PS 42 A450 P1 is the model number IIRC. Series 4 model. Saw it briefly, playing Discovery channel. Seemed pleasing to the eye. Quoting at 67K.

Default Save yourself few bucks...

Dear Friends, while you are in pursuit of a flat panel TV (urge to splurge), please always look around if you have any employee of Panasonic, Sony, LG, Samsung, etc. among your friends (and their friends...and their friends) or relatives (and...). Like in Delhi, when I was scouting, courtesy a neighbour who works in one of the Panasonic divisions, I could get almost 25% off on the "best price" on the Panasonic plasma panel. That meant a whopping 25K saved!

Best of luck!

The new Panasonic PV8/PV80 is out. However the bad thing is both are 1024x768 panels :(. They didn't get the 1366x768 and 1920x1080 panels to india.

@ROC : The PV8/PV80 do have only the 1024*768 res panels everywhere, not just in india.
Its the PZ series that has the 1920*1080 res panels.
And I think its only LCDs that have the 1366*768 resolution panels. I dont know of any plasma that has that resolution.

For that matter the 42" Kuros too have only a 1024*768 res panel.

PZ Pana models would come subsequently in bigger sizes.
Any idea on prices of PV8/80 series?

In new generation launched last month, Pio has stopped production of 1024*768 all together. Now only 1920*1080 resolutions are being produced.
Also Size 50" and bigger, no 42" Plasma anymore for the time being.

Waiting for the new series to launch into India.

i have and older generation (a little more than 1 1/2 years old panasonic 29 inch and the clarity with tata-sky is amazing.

we got my FIL a 21 inch slim last weekend and clarity is as usual brilliant with the colors produced good. the only feeling i have is whether it is 21, looks smaller.

were quoted 9500 for the piece at pana brand showroom, got an older pana (12 years old) exchanged for 1500 with them and got this one at 8000.

Thanks for the feedback bharanidharang!

I am interested in he 29incher. How much did you pay for it? ALso could you compare it with any other brand that you might have used or experienced.

My cousin got a samsung slim last month and the clarity looked good to me, so i am basically looking to choose between that and pana!

If you are referring to my post then it was for Pana CTV's. Sry for being off topic!

No clue yet... the 1080p version is not available either. Waiting for the price info. I guess PV8 (lacks an SD card slot of the PV80) should be under 70 grand.

sorry for the late reply.

my old one, i paid around 16K, no idea on the pricing now. should be lower.

this is the first slim i have had a look. compared to an older (4 year) sony, the clarity was better in the 21 inch pana.

Thanks, missed it earlier.

So is only SD card slot missing in PV8? I am sure there must be few other differences to charge 17k premium for PV80!
Number of HDMIs...?
