Question: wanted to purchase a swivel wall mount but was advised that the tv being slim may get damaged if used wrongly. I use a swivel mount with my 46 LCD which is heavier. Wanted opinions as am not comfortable with a flush wall mount with regards to reaching cables or general cleaning...
I too planned to buy the same and final offer i got from Vasanth & co is 1.43L with bill & warranty.
Usually i bought it from eastern or Arab countries. Due to the new customer duty, it's not economical.
Where did you buy this in Chennai, possible PM the details.
But the issue without warranty is, if this 55 inches failed, we need to shell out a lot of money to fix.

Lot of people waiting for Deepavali sale with 0% interest EMI should be disappointed. Do you think discounts will be more this year instead?

More disappointment in store in the coming days. RBI has banned the zero % EMI offering by Credit cards, Banks etc.

Could anyone confirm if the KDL42W670 can play mkv files encoded in DTS format? (Not talking about BRRips here) Thanks.

I would suggest a 47"/50" LCD/LED tv for normal tv watching and for the screen size, get a good projector, most probably both can be accommodated for the same price that you had mentioned. Watching a 60"/65" cannot replicate the joy of watching on a >100" projection, esp watching a 3D content in a tv is not worth the effort.

Perhaps slightly off topic. But I don't understand the issue that RBI has got this time.
When Samsung came out with their 0% EMI, 0% processing fees and 15% cashback, I bought a gadget (Note 10.1). I did not get charged at all for the first 40 days or so. Then the card bill came and I had another 20 days to pay for it (if I remember it correct now). So, in short, I was enjoying a tablet free of cost for around 45-60 days.
I got 15% cashback exactly on the day promised and it was more than the EMI I had paid so far. So, in essence, the company paid me money to buy the tablet, rather than other-way-around.

Of course, now I have paid several EMI's but I think it was a very good deal with no hidden costs or fine print.

Sorry for this off-topic rant.

Please demo the Panasonic L42ET60D with the Sony. Looks beautiful with the IPS panel. Check the refresh rate reality comparision by watching the news ticker of any business channel. It has built-in wifi unlike Sony.

Plus Panasonic has 3 year warranty.

RBI hasn't banned 0% interest schemes. It has banned 0% interest schemes which were charging interest in the form of processing fees. If someone really wants to give a real 0% interest scheme, it is still possible. RBI only wants to make sure that users can compare two schemes properly instead of falling for such deceptive schemes.

...
The issue RBI has with is that more often that not, a zero percent scheme is not actually what it is made out to be. Suppose you buy a tv having MRP 50k under this scheme. If you had bought the same thing in cash, you would have got a discount of say 10% which works out to Rs 5000.

Now if you buy the same thing under zero percent scheme, they as you to pay 2 EMI's upfront and you don't get any cash discount. Assuming amortisation schedule of Rs 5000 * 10 months. And you pay Rs 1000 as processing fee. So net effect you get a loan of Rs 40,000 for 8 months for which you lose cash discount Rs 5000 plus 1000 processing fee. So you effectively pay an interest of Rs 6000 for an 8 month loan tenure.

Your effective interest rate will work out to something in the region of 18%. This is what the RBI is against as the customer is paying interest without knowing the cost he incurs.

Did some more searching on the net and found that the major difference is that 3D in 2011 models is IR (infrared) based whereas 2012 onwards it's bluetooth based, hence I'm not too sure if the Samsung/other glasses will work with my TV - still need to confirm this before I can buy any of these (these cost 1/2 of what the Panasonic ones cost, Rs.2800 vs Rs.5900!).
