The IPod!?
Wrong.
Its the humble Nokia 1100. Yes that black and white handset which does what it was supposed to do. Make and receive calls and sms's. Just a phone
It has sold 200 million units.
To put things in perspective there are 100 million Ipods sold till date and 115 million PS2's

yup all phones are gadgets. besides this one has a flashlight as well.

I guess this phone got many indians mobile. Previous to this the 3310 was very popular.

I think it's a testimony to Apple's marketing efforts though, if "iPod" comes to mind first.

not really. i dont think it will see the cost perspective as well. to sell numbers it needs to be cheap. and this was that. The ipod was huge back then and still is but the cost kept it out of general public and it's managed only half the sales of the 1100.

Wonder how many the 3310 sold.

Dont think so because It will set u back by 21K for which u would get around eight 1100s if its still available in market...

Though the Nokia 1100 may be extremely popular, I'm not so sure if a basic utility mobile phone would qualify as a gadget anymore.
No more than my Beetel landline phone now. In which case the Panasonic Cordless Phone would be the all time highest selling telephone of all time.

But..... It has a torch.
It even doubles as a Radar Detector
You can also play catch with it, which you can't do with a N95, right.
And its has video games too, like the space invaders with really nice sound effects.
What more do you want in a gadget :P

well to endorse the statistics...My first phone Nokia 3310...was stolen hence ...my second phone 1100..had it till march......forcibily replaced by a Motov3i by a cousin...( i actauly hate the MOTO )..can still swear by both the nokias..and yes the torch on the 1100 was really great and i really miss it....
