Default Nokia E90 FAQ's and Report.

Calling all the Phone Gurus
Guys, my 9500 communicator had lived its life of the time it was introduced. Started giving me a lot of problems so I went ahead and bought the new inproved communicator the E90.
Its about 3/4th of an inch shorter than the 9500 and has a whole lot of features, missing on the 9500, the most important being the vibrator mode (dont anybody get any ideas nor any wise cracks) I bought it from a Nokia dealership and the guy could'nt tell me if it could also transfer the messages all in one go like the contacts etc. I was told it was possible. Hav'nt found any useful info about it on the net but on the Nokia website, they have a tutorial whereby it is shown that this is possible by a tab called the Data Mover. The funny thing is that the very tab is missing on my E90 screen. Its just not there. There is a Data transfer tab but that tab only moves,Contacts and Calendar postings. Tomorrow or rather today I will be visiting the Nokia Place for getting this thing done. Anybody faced this problem or anyone knows how to do this? Ive got some 2000 messages as ive got a lot of info saved as messages on my cell. Just thinking o fdoing it individually is giving me a fever. Please someone, can the messages somehow be copied on to a disk and be transfered to my new phone.
After i get his done ill post a Test Report about the E90.

Congrats Gogi! Check the firmware of your E90, if it is 7.21.0.0, upgrade it to the new one via PC Suite to 7.24.0.3.

Reg the Datamover, it should be there in your menu. If however, you still are not finding it, do the following:
* Connect your 9500 to your PC via PC Suite, using the sync function backup your contacts and calendar to your outlook
* Now connect the E90 and update it with the outlook contacts and calendar.

One more method, check this link More thoughts about Nokia E90 Communicator « Realm of Dobermann

Good Luck!

Hey Kishore, how've you been bro? ive already got my contacts and calendar entries copied thru the data transfer but i have a booklet called the add-on application guide where it shows that the data mover can be added on. So i guess ill have to download from the net. Another query, i have the pc suite of the 9500 loaded on my laptop, when i was loading the new pc suite that came with my E90, there was a widow pop up which said that when i load this version, the older version will get automatically uninstalled. Now i not some software guy or so comp savvy and thought it best not to loose by 9500 back up if this thing uninstalls itself. Think ill just go to the Nokia showroom and get it done there tomorrow. I tell you these gadgets are annoyung sometimes.

Vishal Ji, when it came some 10 odd days ago it was for 42k with bill and warranty. My guy told me to wait for a week and it'll come down 3k ish. I bought it for 36k with warranty and bill. I think its a good deal. A penny saved is a penny earned.
@ Paras-buddy there is a way, just let me figure it out....

Hey Guyz...

I have successfully transfered
  • Messages
  • Contacts
  • Calendar entries
  • Notes
  • Bookmarks
  • Recent calls
  • Gallery Files
From 9300i to E90...

Using Data Mover... Just need to install the Data Mover Application from the Installation folder of E90 to your old communicator via Bluetooth...

After that just start Data Mover Application in your old communicator...

&

From E90 start Data Mover again & select whatever you wanna copy...

Takes hardly 5 - 10mins... & and have complete backup of your previous communicator...
