If you can wait for some more time before you slot in that sim card, go for it !! The cat n mouse chase will go on and its matter of time the unlock for .3 reach indian shore.

Safe route is get the previous version which can be readily unlocked in US or here in India.

Slightly OT:

When I sync my iphone, I see 5.3 gb under music, 221 mb under photos and 200 mb under others.

Does anyone have any clue what this "others" is and how can i reduce my memory usage for it?

Its quite some time now that people are saying that Iphone will be launched in India shortly.i have been waiting ..waiting n waiting

Any idea when will this be launched in India??In between will it be ever launched

if its going to take much time then i have other plans.Hope it gets launched pretty soon

ok guys, I have been using iphone 1.1.2 otb for past month.. the problem it isnt working on vodafone, it works only on airtel.. it worked on vodafone for a week and then says " no sim" i even got a new sim still it says that... whats the problem with vodafone?? It works with no issues on airtel

I am using a 1.1.2 OTB but surprisingly I am facing trouble with the Airtel network. It comes and goes in cycles. Also can i use the net on the phone by activating my net on phone service or do i need to activate GPRS. i got my phone unlocked in Bombay.

Can anybody please help me out.

Looks like we can now upgrade our unlocked iphone directly to 1.1.3 using the installer via WiFi... Is it worth upgrading or should i stick to 1.1.1? Anyone tried this?

I just read on IntoMobile that Apple's SDK key has been leaked. With the SDK key at their disposal, users may not even need to jailbreak their iPhones to install third party apps. It remains to be seen how quickly Apple plugs this loophole — if it ever worked in the first place, that is!
