w00t. PwnageTool and QuickPwn for 2.1 Firmware released on torrent

So NOW 2.1 firmware has got jailbreak and cydia. Happy Pwning.

Thanks for the update, even though I have updated my iPhone to 2.1 and its working, I am currently downloading QuickPwn tool, and will be jailbreaking in an hour so so to get the Cydia and cycorder, this application and SSH access make me go the Jailbreaking way.

Done with the jailbreaking, all my required 3 rd party unauthorized applications are working fine, cycorder, mobileterminal and bosspref.

Have the 3rd party apps been ported yet? I read somewhere that 2.1 was a bit different so the Snapture team had to re-code stuff. Just wondering...

Those who have Windows OS can get their Iphone upgraded to 2.1 without the use of Pwnage or QuickPwn(as it is still not out).On some torrent sites the customized firmware is put up,download it and restore your Iphone using either Itunes 7.7 or 8 thats it.Got my phone upgraded last night using this method and it is working fine.

I thought you needed iTunes 8 to install and sync the new firmware.

I would have upgraded to 2.1 firmware, but some of the apps are not yet ported According to a friend, he felt a massive difference while running his phone on the new firmware. Hope the apps get ported soon. cheers:

srijit well i used Itunes 8 but the person who has uploaded the file has said it works even with Itunes 7.7.1

Not a 'massive difference', but the phone works more like a phone now. It holds on to signals better (still not optimal) and 3G sessions seem to last longer than before. In other words, it is getting closer to what a phone should be in the first place.

I think I forgot to mention that he was upgrading from 1.1.1 ver

Must have felt a massive diff, cos I was just parroting what he was saying

I also think that you need iTunes 8 if you want to sync to the computer. I think otherwise you can install the custom firmware using 7.7.x but it wont sync. I might be wrong, though.

Not, much of difference in application performance, but after jailbreaking and cydia previous version of firmware used to eat the battery faster, this version seem to work sensible and able to give lot more in the same situation. Even the triangulation feature of google map is working more accurate, this may not be because of firmware, but because of google data collection, but still it has improved a lot on this version.[I have older iPhone not 3G]
