For under 10k, I'd suggest computer speakers. MX5021 sounds rather good when setup well. However the Klipsch Promedia 2.0 (~6.5k) is a better speaker if you are not a bass freak. Heard a lot of good about the AudioEngine AE2 but never have managed to audition it. Seemingly its excellent.

I have decided to buy the Philips DVD player DVP3166 with USB. I cant decide on which 5.1 speakers to go. I am not looking at a high end one. A 1000-1500 Watts PMPO will work for me. Checked Onida HTS 1000.

Not checked philips yet. Any other suggestions?

I want a 2.1 speaker system to complement my LCD tv. The hall is large 2250 to 2500 cubic feet. What speaker system would satisfy my requirements? Help anyone!
Any solutions for less than 10k, 20k or 30k? Lesser the better.

Looks good. Sub seems to be really good.

Anyone use the Klipsch Promedia 2.1? It has excellent reviews.

Was going thro cnet and they had rated Creative MegaWorks 250D-THX highly. "The black, square-shaped MegaWorks 250D-THX speakers each feature a single 3.5-inch driver, while the massive subwoofer uses an 8-inch, down-firing throw driver and a laudable frequency response (25Hz to 20kHz) " 150 watt sub with

Creative MegaWorks 250D-THX PC Speaker reviews - CNET Reviews

But now I dont find it on the Creative site! The latest 2.1 systems from Creative do not look good. the Itrigue.... sub is only 20 watt rms

Anyone has experience with Studio Monitors? How do they fare compared to the Multimedia speakers?

Studio monitors are the most awesome form of sound reproduction that can ever be, but they are not really suited for day to day listening because unlike hi-fi speakers, they do not add any punch to the sound, they just give out what you put in. The purpose of studio monitors is basically for the technician to be able to hear exactly what is being recorded. Also, in order to effectively use studio monitors one has to do alot of acoustic correction, sound proofing etc in the room that one intends to put the speakers in.

mail4ajo > A cordless speakers(all five or seven) or at least back(two) only cordless speakers will definetly be a good choice, as it helps u the trouble of running the wires all round the room and loosing the decor of the room.
