Nvidia is not coming out with dx11 cards anytime soon.

ATI is coming out with DX 11 cards in the next two weeks, and pricing on the 4 series will therefore fall a bit.

I would suggest you wait for that to happen. In the meanwhile Raj, you can go for the following config, which will prove better for gaming as well as general applications:

AMD Proccy - 550 BE(there is an unlock available so check the batch number before buying...google is your friend) - 5.5k
Biostar TA790GXB Mobo - 4.5k. This has onboard VGA which u can use for a while till u get your new GPU. Its an AM2+ version mobo, with a 790GX/SB750 chipset, which is by far better than what you would get from Asus for the same price. Build quality is quite good too. If you are willing to spend more for the same features then go for Asus.

4GB of DDR2 800 Mhz should cost you around 2.5k, not mroe than that. Look for tranascend memory, best VFM today.

the silverstone PSU price is a bit high. Why not Corsair VX 450

Similarly, why not the 4770 instead of the 4850

everthing else seems OK

ohhh... oops, i have already bought an expensive SMPS!

also, i noticed this card when i went to the shop few days back & i googled for some info on this card, found some pretty good reviews about the card, hence the decision.

i hope my config is alright & i would be able to play some pretty cool games! because thats my motive behind the upgrade!

Default Help needed on deciding and assembling a new desktop PC

Hello friends,i am facing alot of issues on my current desktop PC.after using it for 1hr. it suddenly freezes or it gets shut-off automatically, frompast 2months i have formatted my pc and loaded all the drivers utility tools for more than 7times,but now i am totally frustrated and can't rely upon using it for doing any serious work except browsing.I have a feeling to have fried 1 512mb RAM and the ram slot is not working even if i switch the other working 512mb RAM in it all my games and 3D+graphical related work have stopped and rendering has become a bigger issue even if i am able to open up a CG file.

Current Config:
Originaly used MSI K8N-Neo2 Platinum which got fried due to lightning
Upgraded/downgraded???? to
Some ASUS motherboard with 939pin (2nd piece as last year i fried one of the same MOBO after the MSI K8N)
3500+ AMD 64bit processor
512mb x 2 Ram
HDD - 160GB (working absolutely fine will use the same and add another one)
DVD writer(working absolutely fine will use the same)
ATX Cabinet (recently upgraded 6months+)
Radeon X-1300 256mb Graphic card(absolutely working fine will use the same)

Computer guru's i mainly use my PC for gaming/CG work and browsing but too many applications what is the latest i can get in a decent budget of 12k +/- 3k which can include MOBO/Processor/RAM.

Thanks alot for looking thru this thread.

Ramie

You're probably overheating something (proc or gfx) Ramie-bhai. RAM is cheap, go for as much as you can within your budget. Spend most on the processor though since you're doing rendering work (which is more important than gaming, I assume). You'll need a better graphics card if you want to game though, assuming you're limited to older games at low res because of the card right now. If the games are not taxing enough, it's fine to stick with this one.

I'll let someone else mention specifics since I'm not too much into brands and models these days. Good luck!

Well, you can go for AMD setup.
Processor : Phenom X2 550 BE. Cost Rs. 5.5k
Mobo : BioStar mobo with 790 chipset. Will cost around Rs. 4.5-5 K. Biostar are reliable and not bad as earlier I considered them to be.
RAM : 2 X 2 GB DDR2 800 MHz. Cost Rs. 2.5-2.6K.

Total is around Rs. 12550.

This price range is the sweet spot for AMD + ASUS.

Look at these two configs. I would suggest you go with:

1. Phenom X3 + 6 GB that would cost you 13.5k
2. Slap Win 7 64 on this (or buy 4 GB RAM)
3. Spend 4k more on decent cabinet + SMPS

I have a budget of 30-40k (max 50 not more)
I Already have a case, dvd writer, linksys pci wireless card and cabinet from my old p4 rig. (cabinet is a branded hp one, I am hoping i can still use it)

I will be needing the following :
1. Processor (Would prefer intel, I had an amd laptop before and it would always overheat)
2. Mobo (Asus etc.)
3. PSU (crossair)
4. Ram (3-4gb crossair)
5. GPU (atleast 512 mb with hdmi output) (also should support resolution of 1080p on an lcd tv)(I heard dx 11 cards are being launched soon)
6 Proper sound card not the stock mobo one.
7. Blu ray reader (if i have money left over wouldnt mind a blu ray writer)
8. HDD (1-2tb seagate or WD only)
9. Proper UPS (APC preferably)
10. Wireless KB and mouse (should have good range atleast 10-12 feet)
11. Wired xbox 360 controller.
12. Monitor 22-24 inch

If I buy a new case i would want something like this.
Would i get everything in the above budget ?

What a list !
2) Avoid ASUS. Go for Gigabyte or MSI. If you have firm plans for getting Graphics and Sound card, + if you buy Intel processor, I think that Inter mobos will be good for you. But considering the list, I feel that you will have to go for AMD setup. AMD processors of earlier generation had an issue with overheating, but I am facing similar issues with Q8200 and now Q8400.
5) GPU with DX11 will come after Windows 7 fully launched. They are coming from ATi RV870 based Radeon HD 5XXX cards. However some sources claim that the upper end cards are coming on 10th sept. But the cost will be high. But the cost of 4XXX series cards might come down a bit.
8) This will itself cost more that Rs. 7K.
12) Look at Benq series. E2200HD.

I am not sure if you can get all the parts with the current budget you have. I am not sure about Xbox controller, soundcard.
Do tell us how you are going to use this computer i.e. what is basic use. From your monitor, sound card and graphic card needs, I think its either gaming computer or for watching/editing movies or HTPC.

@cooldude1988765 : Here is my suggestion with approximate pricing.

1. Processor - Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 (Rs. 8,200/-) or Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 (Rs. 15,500/-)
2. Mobo - ASUS P5Q-Pro (Rs. 10,500/-) or Abit IP35-E (Rs. 5,300/-)
3. PSU - Corsair TX650 (Rs. 6,500/-) or Frontech/VIP/CoolerMaster (min. 500W)
4. Memory - 2 X 2 GB DDR2 800 Corsair XMS2 (Rs. 3,600/-)
5. GPU - PowerColor HD4850 (Rs. 6,990/-) or Palit GeForce GTS 250 (Rs. 6,990/-)
6. Sound Card - ASUS Sonar DX (Rs. 3,700/-)
7. ODD - Your Choice
8. HDD - Seagate 1 TB 7200.11 (Rs. 5,500/-) or WD 1 TB Black Edition (Rs. 7,400/-)
9. UPS - Numeric 800 vA (Rs. 3,500/-)
10. Wireless Keyboard/Mouse - Your Choice (Models keeps changing too fast)
11. Wired xbox controller - Don't have any idea.
12. Monitor - AOC 2230Fm (Rs. 14,000/-) or AOC F22 (Rs. 8,800/-)

Oops ! I think I have crossed the budget. Anyway, hope this will clear your doubts. You may decide on various permutation and combination. Also, please remember to bargain hard.

[Disclaimer - I am not associated with any of these companies. I have given a general pricing which may differ from city to city]
