Default HDD External Casing

Im looking for a 3.5" External USB 2.0 Casing for my HDD. Which brand should i buy?

The useless unbranded products in the market have totally confused me .

Transcend, if U manage to source it.
There are some 3k-4k rupee models too with "tank like" build quality and e-SATA.

Transcend is the best. I recently got a SATA casing for 750gb HDD for about 2200 rupees. But mine is a regular SATA HDD so the casing has its own power supply.

I'd like something thats a bit cheaper, Im going to use it for an old 20GB HDD thats been lying around unused.
It doesnt exactly deserve 'tank like' build quality.

Transend 3.5 inch casing has may models you can get it for Rs 500 also. Search it in the market. You might get a good deal. Also your 20 gb HDD will be having a PATA interface so make sure you mention that while buying.

Transcend casings arent available in Baroda and no one is ready to get it for me. Only the unbranded ones are available.
Does anyone know of a site which sells it online.

If you can get the Zippy, its pretty decent. Its cheap as well. Looks like a black colored pan box.

I have used SVB, Zippy and Transcend external casings.

The transcend was twice the cost, but completely reliable. The zippy kept disconnecting the drive.

One 200 GB drive crashed because of this. Don't take chances.

There was one bad lot with that problem. You could have got yours exchanged for free. I haven't had a single issue with mine. But anyway if you can afford the transcend, thats the one to get.
