Anup, the software went through recovery of my SD card and generated files which were named 234567.jpeg (where 234567 was a sector number) and I do not have to resort them. I am so happy!!

Only the recent pictures from my SD Card. I have nothing from my hard disk yet.

After 32 hours, about 50% of the drive is scanned.

I can only empathize with you Sam. I was prudent enough to back up some photos onto a DVD and when I try to read the DVD, my laptop says it is an Audio CD? Wifey has been asking for the photos for a few weeks now, I dont know what to tell her. t-Bhp can lose a member if I tell the truth.

Anyways, good luck for your recovery.

Did you try using it in another drive? did you try to read it even once after you had written it to the DVD, to ensure the backup was correct?

this is the reason i have two external drives now. one for regular use, other as the backup. I don't use the internal HDD of my laptop for data storage anymore (it's an old laptop, not much space anyway).

you can try a tool like CD / DVD Data Recovery & Rescue software, featuring BD and HD DVD to recover data from CD/DVDs.

this problem usually happens if data is written properly but there is some problem while finalizing the disk.

Forgive the delay.

After 52 hours I was able to recover many files. I have thousands of JPEGS, many incomplete. But I have many complete jpegs so I am pleased. Very pleased.

However I am also very disappointed. Apparently the filter was not active for XLS, DOC and CDR files. So basically all I have is photos. It seems I may have to do this all over again. Shudder.
