AFAIK, only airtel has unlimited data plans for mobile internet. if vodafone doesnt come up with one, proud iPhone owners will end up paying through the nose for data usage
and whats worse , the iphone cant be truly switched off. You'll end up paying for roaming even if you switch it off as it keeps tracking the network . You'll need to remove the sim from the phone to be sure

I don't remember Vodafone having unlimited internet options, but my airtel internet works anywhere in the whole country with about the same speed and that too @ 200 bucks p.m.

Vodafone bringing Iphone is nothing great since Apple has already announced iPhone2.

According to "siliconvalleywatcher.com",

Quote:
T-Mobile in Germany expects to start shipping the iPhone2 in June 2008. It will support the 3G UMTS and offer a vastly improved battery life. I'm hearing by as much as 15x but that sounds way too much.
Also Google Android should be the next big thing. Should take about an year to come out but by the time iPhone actually becomes available, we will have better options, including Sony Ericsson's "Xperia X1". Now that is some phone.

Got one today and spent 10 minutes unlocking it and then installed some apps. The biggest let down ever, my dated HTC Trinity beats the pants off the iphone and is cheaper to buy.

Going to sell it in the morning or trade it for a HTC Kaiser, the iphone has got to be the most over-rated phone ever.

Just out of curiosity, how much are you looking to get for it? A friend of mine is looking for one.

Maybe I missed something, but why is everyone so excited about this? iPhones are available a dime a dozen in the grey market.

True plus once you have one you soon see how this is the most over-rated phone ever.

Much prefer the HTC Kaiser.

8GB iPhones are available in ebay.in for 23k. Any idea what the white price will be?

Also, will iPhones bought from the grey market have Apple warranty when it is launched in India?

8Gb iPhones can be obtained from Cochin for around 20 - 23K. I doubt that you will get an Apple warranty without an active cellular service.

On another note, it seems that SingTel is also going to release iPhones in India, through Bharti Airtel. (from Engadget)

It will take a while for Singtel to distribute iphones through Bharti in India , as of now they have the acquired the rights for Singapore only. iphones will officially enter India only through Vodafone atleast for the next one year.

Vodafone's also distributing the iPhone in India and Australia though, so we'll have to wait until later this year to find out who gets to shoot first.
They didnt mention delays though....

This is what Engadget had to say.

I'am hiring the pilot team for Apple India for this project. Do you need a better source than that ?

Well if some one really wants it, they are readily available in the black market, like alpha in mumbai. And the put them in the display in front of their shops. Isn't it illegal? and so are voda phone, airtel and police not aware of it? or they are aware but don't want to take any action.

Even other phone like black berry pearl are available and that also at half the price from the market, I don't really prefer them because they have no warranty. But they do decrease the value of my new pearl. :(
