I doubt this is a genuine copy, though when my friend who bought the Holux device was assured that it is so. Since he did not want this device, I bought it off him. Obviously the version also is quite old. But other than leading me to some 'no entry roads' the device did take me around Kerala and Tamil Nadu these past 4 days.

Maybe an updated version would be better!

Sir,

How do you find the phone after a couple of month of Usage?
How much did you pay for it. and is it worth it?
How is the readability of documents in the phone?

Thanks,

Hi bblost: The phone's quite nice. The SatGuide maps are not very uptodate, but they seem to learn over a period of time - I'm not too sure how that's happening. Some areas, even in Delhi, are not marked - that's not good. But since SatGuide is a Hyderabad based co. I presume HYB should be better mapped!

I paid 11.8K for it including the SatGuide software, a car windscreen mount, car charger and a 1GB card bundled together, and yes, it's worth it. The camera also takes fairly decent pics despite the fact that it's 2MP (I feel it's better than some of the Nokia 2MPs). Overall, very VFM.

Document readability is pretty clear for Word documents, but I haven't tried opening Excel and Powerpoint documents in it yet.

I just bought the same from Croma Hyderabad.
Thank you very much.
The phone looks very good and strong.
Also got a screen protector film.

Need to get myself a new sim card for the phone and I am set.

Maybe a BSNL card? You won't lose signal on your travels, and you get 3G service to complement the capabilities of the phone...

But this phone is not a 3G
Asus P527 - Full phone specifications

I am leaning towards Airtel.
Also not very keen on the net usage via the phone.
Plus my office is wifi enabled.

Love this link, hope you have seen ASUS PDA Phone

Yes, I meant 3G net connectivity. But the fact that you have wi fi at office and this is one of the few phones that have wi fi connectivity makes it simpler - that's what I do, connect on my home wifi.

And thanks so much for the links. They're nice.

^^ oops my bad.
I am just trying out everything and figured it was wifi while infact it was not.

Active Sync permits internet access via the device.
That allowed me to update the gps catcher and also browse using IE.

Did that using the following tip from
PPCSG -> Official thread of Asus P750 Part 4

1. Open Registry Editor on your desktop (click on Start, Run and then type "regedit")

2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows CE Services.

3. Right-click on the value list and choose New, DWORD value. Type the name
"AllowLSP" and leave the DWORD value as 0.

4. Click on the Activesync logo and select File, Connection Settings and choose "This computer is conencted to the internet".

5. Disconnect and then connect your Asus P750 to your PC again and try again...

6. It should work now...

I couldn't figure that out either, if it does exist that is. I have the iNav WF on my N95 - had posted a detailed issues list on this earlier...

I hope you meant the following:

The GPS/Maps Discussion Thread (Dedicated Satnav, Smartphones, Tablets, etc)-image095.jpg
The GPS/Maps Discussion Thread (Dedicated Satnav, Smartphones, Tablets, etc)-image094.jpg

The horizontal one did save routes. It also had a simulation mode.

The vertical one does not have a 'simulation' mode. The red button (the bottom one on the right column) changes to green / blue when touched. I read somewhere that it is for recording route. But if it does I don't see any option for saving it.
