For the software to work correctly you should place it on a
flat surface like near the handbrake ,or straight vertically like on a mobile stand.
You should once placed accurately wait for it to say accelerate ,then just launch your car, never hold it in your hand

Anyways , tried out the software on a magnum deisel.
this car has some seroius low down power, smoked the tires a few times,

0-60 miles -10.3
1/4 mile - 17.5

Okay, here are more realistic times from the Jag. Please note I wasnt in 'drag' mode as I was commuting from one of our offices to the other and wasnt taking this very seriously, else am sure I would've got better times as the claimed 0-100 for this car is 5.2 secs. We also had four people on board:

Figs are pretty awesome with 4 people in the car.

BTW, do you know the claimed 0-160kmph, 1/4 mile and 1/4 mile trap speed for your car?

I dunno about this man.

Check this out ok.

A 627bhp-1100kg Mclaren F1 covers the 1/4 mile at a trap speed of around 212kmph and your Jag 400/435bhp-1800kg hit 199kmph in the same distance?

And if your saying that your launch wasn't the best, it means your car can actually cross 200kmph over a 1/4 mile.!!!

570bhp/ton vs 241bhp/ton and only 13kmph difference over a 1/4 mile??? Infact a Lambo LP640 hits around 200kmph in a 1/4 mile.

If you were to test your Jag with a Vbox/laser timer, you'l find your trap speed to be in the 168-175kmph range and thats provided your car actually did 12.8 secs.

What does the "Skidpad" do? Can you store different ride's data in one app?

I dunno either - see those Safari results earlier, even if one were to give allowance to the fact that I hadnt 'calibrated' the software. However it gives me some yardstick to keep measuring how much I can push it to. Today's run was bad with hot desert air blowing into the car.

237 kmph, so I'm not sure of the McLaren F1 figure you quoted. No figures are available for the S Type R, though. I guess they dont drag Jags, but I'm sure I saw the speedo on the car at 200 when the software went 'beep' to indicate the test is complete.

Abhinav Gupta you can buy it on the iTunes store (provided you have an iPhone) - its under the category "Sports" and costs $13.

Where did you get that trap speed fig? If it really did 237, it can't be stock.

13.5secs@105mph (168kmph). Considering the claimed power fig of 435bhp for your car, you could have been a little faster, but nowhere close to 200kmph.

Yup, it's a good system to try n beat your own acc record. The same way we use one weighing machine to check our weight loss, irrespective of how accurate it is. Maybe you actually did 23kmph more than your previous run. As long as the degree of error remains constant, an improvement is an improvement.

Just for the rec, if you have access to any drag strips with proper timers or a portable GPS device, why not give it a try n see. You'l atleast know the actual performance of your car against company claims.

True time on the Dubai Autodrome, car belongs to my colleague. Will get you some other figures too - 200kmph in the 1/4 mile isnt so unheard of, there's even a Landcruiser thats done that time comfortably but of course it was rated at 1000 whp (Dyno'd, not claimed).

See, there are only 2 ways a car can do 200kmph in 12.8 secs. Lets say you have a very powerful car capable of hitting well over 200kmph in under 12.8 sec to a 1/4 mile, you have a very bad launch and then pick up speed, so due to the time lost you end up doin 200kmph@12.8 secs. But to do such a thing, your car needs an awesome power to weight ratio (like the 1000whp landcruiser, which must be doin around 1200bhp at the crank). 240bhp/ton, just doesn't cut it.

In the 2nd case, you have a slightly less powerful AWD, you get an awesome launch but doe to the relatively lower power, you start losing out towards the end.
If you compare the trap speed of RWDs and AWDs doing the exact same 1/4 mile time, the RWDs tend to have a slightly quicker trap speed. But since your car is not a AWD and your launch wasn't perfect, even this is not possible.

1. My car is RWD.

2. "Launch" here is when your car starts moving - I had initially confused this process with pressing the button on the screen, but this is not required as the software starts calculating based on movement. Empty 6-laned road, no a/c, no DSC (ABC/TCS/EBD/SC) meant that I could hold my brakes and get the revvs up before I started off. I'm not a professional, so that may not be the best of launches - still, it was a pretty decent attempt.

We'll figure out the exact times this thing can do if I manage to get it on to track (requires safety equipment incl Roll Cage which I dont want to do to this car). However I'm quite certain that 200 kmph did come up during the period of the 'test'.

I know that your car can do 200kmph, whats difficult to believe is that it can do it in 400 meters. So until a proper test is done, we'l just have to keep guessing.
