Default red stripe on plasma

Hey i ve got a hitachi 42' plasma about a year and a half old.
Watching tv today suddenly a bright red vertical 3 inch stripe appears on the right side. It s really verry bright. A little google says something i dont understand but its not good news, the fault isnt worth reparing . BTW its a grey market piece.

Just put the tv on now. the stripe's gone.

dude! the stripe's gone!!! just forget about it, and when it goes constant, then call in a mechanic and get it checked.

Other day my Hitachi 42'er didnt switch on, after thinkin a while, just plugged out the power socket from behind the tv, and put it back in, and it worked! never happened again!

High probability of it recurring.
Sell it before it bleeds you.

If you haven't already got them, get your self a very good stabilizer+spike buster(Fused)for the panel itself +separate tripper switch on room that houses your Plasma.if you've got plenty of equipment or lighting in the room , then even better would be to have separate tripper for all your Audio/Video equipment.

Secondly I've also noticed in my house is that out of the 3 phases that are supplied, one tends to me more stable than the other.Check on this and switch the room's/equipment's supply to that particular one.

Unlike tube-type televisions, plasmas are not susceptible to magnetic fields caused by speakers etc.

Look like a circuitry problem, try to give it to Hitachi A.S.S for an estimate.

The magnetic field from speakers etc causes a rainbow like effect and all types of TV's are effected from it including the CRT's. You have to De-gauss them to rectify the rainbow effect.

Btw, front home theatre speakers from known mfg's are magnetically shielded to avoid this effect.

This special red stripe could be because of charge build up, and after switching off the power for sometimes, usually this will disappear.

Also if the Plasma is old, then gradually the quality of picture will decline as with the phosphorous using other device, the CRT. This happens in case where the display gets old after use.

I forgot to mention. after a while the red stripe started flickering . it wasnt on when the screen was black but anything displayed in the area of the stripe and it would light up.(Eg i press the menu which is displayed on the left but as i enter a particular option it expands towards the left and the red stripe is back . )

@absynth-- i ve got a monster spike guard, seperate trip switch for the room.

its not come back since . hopefully it wont. Can a s-vid input wire hanging cause this stripe? i removed the s vid wire dangling (use it to hook up my comp) when i switched the mains off. the red stripe hasnt been back since.

i ve stopped worring about it now.
