Default Need help with Panasonic mini dv camcorder

Friends
I have a nearly 5-year old Panasonic mini dv camcorder. It has started malfunctioning of late. It keeps ejecting out the tape on its own. It can be stopped only by removing the battery. What could the problem be? I don't want to go to the authorised service station because they charge a bomb and are often more expensive than buying a new one.
Has anyone faced such a problem before? Is this a curable problem?

Does it show any message while doing so?

Like, "Dew detected, eject tape." or similar?

Nah. It happens with everything closed. With the camera in off mode. But will check tonight what happens if I turn it on. But basically there is no scope for me to turn it on. It just gets into the eject mode.
A kind of premature ejaculation
