I have downloaded that but I have already installed the driver given by HP. I'll wait for a couple more days and if I still come across the BSOD for the same issue, then I will try installing the JMICRON driver. Otherwise, installing this driver now, I will not be sure which driver actually solved the problem. Atleast this way, I'll know which driver to install if I do face the same problem later after installing a full version Windows 7 Professional.

I have found out today that my company is looking at installing Windows 7 on all systems replacing XP Pro. Currently, there is a dedicated team testing each and every application that is run in the company to find out incompatibilities with Windows 7. Keeping my fingers crossed.

That is a good move- Win 7 definitely is a replacement to XP, what Vista should have been in the first place!

The nerd and the techies,

Can anyone confirm the rumors of a Windows 7 Light. I heard that there is one version of it sans IIS and all the jazz that comes with it. Probably that is only supposed to run in VM mode but is there one such thing?

I have heard good things about this from some friends who work in MS.
They are also debating if this can be given as a free replacement for the Vista sufferers - this is still rumour at this time.

its an ALC 662. anyone have any ideas? rear is detected correctly, but volume is not sufficient

WEI is calculated on the least score. How come your WEI is 6.9? It should have been 6.2!!! Correct me if I am wrong. Personally I too like Windows 7, now using the RC. This OS rocks.

@dre@ms , what you have said is true. WEI always takes the least value as the final one.

I am using Windows 7 as my primary OS ( RTM build 7600.16385 ). Due to Intel Onboard graphics on my D620 , it is giving WEI 3.2.

So far it is good, though gave BSOD once when i tried to install Unsigned driver.

You are right. It was 6.2. CPU figures also was wrong. In fact this is the correct figures.

Windows Experience Index: 6.2
Processor - 7.2
Memory (RAM) - 6.8
Graphics - 6.7
Gaming graphics - 6.2
Primary hard disk - 6.7

I think the onboard graphics is causing the low score.

^^not a problem. My WEI on my HCL laptop is 3.5 :(
Thankfully, Aero works only if the WEI score is 3+
I am saved.
Till now RC works without a hitch. Got a BSOD during the install of Outpost firewall, their network driver screws RC.
Using Avast with RC firewall.

A question to OS guru's: The workstations in my office are HP branded and come with Vista Business as OEM. My office hace asked them to replace them with Windows XP.
Can I use the key written on the Microsoft Original sticker on the machine and then install the Vista Business on my home pc??

Nopes you cant. The Key on the office machine is a OEM key tied to that computer- whether you use Vista on it, or forfeit it, the key cannot be used on another machine...
