Default Ghost Image Formation in 2 Year Old 19" Widescreen LCD Monitor. Opinions required.

I have Viewsonic VA1912w-4 LCD monitor. The monitor is 19" wide screen monitor.
The date on the sticker at the back is mentioned as 2007-03-30. Means its less than two years old.
The monitor has only VGA as input.

But since last few days I am facing problem of ghost image. I dont know how this problem can come up in this expensive monitor within two years.

I have tried checking this monitor to other computer, changing cable, changing the power supply, but after all the exercise I realized its the monitor that is at fault and not my graphics card.

I have been running this monitor very heaviely for around 8 months now. Daily usage is around more than 12 hours. Mostly I am on Tbhp, or working in 3DS MAX. This monitor has not been extensively used for watching movies or playing a lot of games.
The resolution I have been running is 1440 X 900 @75Hz.

The ghost image as of now appears only after I have switched on the computer for around 2-3 hours. Before that its all normal. And it takes around 1 hour shutdown for things to get back to normal.
Also the power is always ON. I mean I never switch of the mains from the plug in which I have power supply to monitor.
This is same for my dad's 15" Veiwsonic LCD monitor also. The 15" Viewsonic monitor is of July 2004, but still no issues with that and this one is throwing issues.

Can someone pinpoint on the cause of this ? Or how to get the problem solved ? Any estimate of repair cost ( if repairing is a possibility ).

The problem is that the original bill is not with me as we bought it from our computer vendor. He himself will get that registered tomorrow. I am worried if I am not able to get a replacement. It costed us 13K back in 2007.

you should be able to. Out here, the only expense I incurred when I replaced my Viewsonic was the shipping to their depot. They shipped a replacement soon. They know the date of manufacture from the serial number - bill etc should not be needed.

Thanks for reducing my tension a bit. I hope viewsonic India displays similar attitude towards me.
What about the warranty on the piece they ship as replacement ?

Not sure! I forgot to check with them but I'd assume the remainder of your warranty would apply.

What did it cost you and where was this done ? I am afraid that in my city this could lead to some damage. Did you get this job done at some authorized Samsung service center ?

@sirAlec:
I have tried that also, but till yesterday changing cable did not give me different results and the ghost image remained.

But the update is that today I am finding it less than yesterday since morning. I dont how it reduced. But its not absolutely gone.

^^You can definitely go for the replacement since its under warranty. Call up the viewsonic toll free number and log the complaint.

You dont require the bill and they would take the part number.

Already been through this. It took me 4 months to get my 1 yr old lcd replaced. It was a real harrowing experience

Will try, but I dont want myself to be registered and waste somebody's resources as I wont be able to contribute enough and once my problem is solved, I will not care to have a genuine look at it. Its harsh but honest.

But for sure I am going to have a look at that!
And Thanks for putting it up here.

No this happened to me when the LCD was under warranty. I called the helpline and they sent one of their engineers to my place with a spare LCD panel. He ripped apart the display and unscrewed the old panel and replaced it with the new panel that he bought with him. It was at the most a 15 min job.

I am not sure if you should be looking at replacing the LCD panel if your display is out of warranty as the LCD panels don't come cheap. You'd be better off buying yourself a new LCD Monitor. Maybe even a 22" Viewsonic. They cost under 10k now.

Dont about viewsonic but my 17" dell has this feature in the OSD menu to repair ghosting... You can try if your viewsonic has something similar.

I dont remember the exact name of the feature, I ll check and let you know.
