Well for cloning the disc. I had used Partition Magic. But, i seriously doubt it'll support the SD cards. I had it done for a HDD which had its boot sector kaput hence it wasn't reading anything on it. For reading the binary data you can use any Hex-Editor and read the data. I've asked a friend of mine who has a HDD recovery business. He'll be replying to me in a day or so and I'll post what he has to say.

Regards,

Anirban.

Zak, do try this. Seems to be a very useful idea. You anyway have to get a new microSD card for the time being. So give it a shot. If you haven't already.

Okay. Seems like a good loop hole!
But the post on the Sandisk forum also mentions that it works only on cards which was locked automatically and not by a password. My case swings to the password forgotten side.

Anyway, I'm off to buy a new SD card now. :chanting all the good prayers:

Default Same experience

I had the same horrifying experience 2 years back with my Nokia 6600 MMC.
I racked and whacked my brain to no avail.
Being new to Delhi, I managed to navigate my way to Gaffar Market and was bewildered to find hundreds of mobile hardware software shops fighting for legroom. But my heart said that it was the right joint.

I physically entered and asked hundreds of shops for data recovery from my password lost MMC. But drew a Blank! Finally bought a new MMC and came to accept the tragic loss.

After 4 months while at home for leave on a happy day I came across the card again, popped it in my robust 6600 and casually asked my wife to put some words!!!

On the third try (please hold your breath) IT OPENED
On querying what she used? All hell broke loose. It turned out to be another horror for the rest of my leave. That another story.
She had put in my Ex GF's name.

Well whats the progress?

ha ha ha,

so if you don't want to risk losing your data in your card, you need to risk telling your g'fs name to your wife. hm, tough choice.

I personally would pick somebody least likely to by my g'f and use her name all the time.

EDIT: and that can be your alibi.

Some cheek saying SHE had put in ex GF's name.

Did you happen to forget that it was YOU who put the name in the first place, eh ?

On a more serious note, my condolences to your marriage.
No? It's still going strong?
Well done! You're the man !!

Zak, the solution was to get a new card and setup what you think is the most likely password on that and then plonk in the already locked card back into your E71 and try to unlock it with the newly setup password.
