Default 0-60 timing device for cars

i was wondering if there are any gadgets available in India which can be fitted in cars to calculate the timings (0-60,0-100,1/4 mile and so on).

the cheapest is an application for your iphone (if you have one). a more expensive thing is the gtech or gtech pro which will be around 12k+. then there is the vbox which is pretty darn expensive.

yes, i read about the iphone thing, but you need to have constant GPS connection to get accurate results, but what we have is intermittent connection it gets disconnected on regular basis. Gtech costs around 8k + shipping, which will come up to 12k as you said. so was searching if there are any cheaper means to acheive.

HKS turbo timer has this feature. Guess you might get the previous generation one for cheaper then the new one.

Dynolicious does not use GPS, it uses the 3D accelerometer inside the phone.
OTOH, if you time acceleration, mostly you need open road, and GPS connection should be no problem if a GPS based timing software is used, or ?

oh i thought it uses GPS to gather data. will do some research on that.
had seen on my friends phone, GPS disconnects saying network lost, signal strength low and other things, hence i said so.

Download GPS Performance 1.01.004 for Windows Mobile PocketPC Free Trial - GPS Performance is a must have application for people with performance cars interested in performance statistics. - Softpedia

here's one that uses the GPS. I actually did check this out today.. and it works.. (with the imperial measures.. metric measures don't seem to work to well).. I ran it with my TyTNII internal gps.. with a 1hz refresh rate so it was not terribly accurate. Once I try it with my 5hz gps.. I'll get back to you..

BTW there's a gentleman called gopinathann on this forum who's already made a gps speedometer. maybe you can ask him to work on a 0-100 meter for you.

cheers

How about an OBD scanner with a corresponding OBD software, something like this:
