In any case I will be really skeptical about buying from someone who is selling cheaper than Google.

Jassi, has summed up the issue really well, if you are someone who likes to upgrade your phone software, and someone who heavily uses google products (gmail, blogger, maps, etc.), Nexus one is the phone for you.

I am especially looking forward to 'over the air' updates that google will be releasing from time to time.
here is the link, may not be reliable though-
Google Phone Nexus One Price Pictures India comes later to Nexus

i just want a good phone. i am not someone who likes to update the phone's software regularly.

raj,
I thought you are talking about somebody who is actually selling the phone. This is just a news report and the poor guy didn't even consider any kind of taxes. 20north guys will actually ship the phone to you in 10 days, but they are selling it for 33K.

X10 may be the phone for you but I don't know whether its a good idea to go for a Android 1.6 phone now when 2.1 is already out. I am trying to avoid commenting on this because I don't like SE and my views are bound to be biased.

Moreover, my objective of getting nexus one is entirely different. I am going to root the phone and try my hands on android development.

You don't have to root the phone for android dev. unless you are planning to replace with debian etc., For a typical developer the adb shell is already available by default and your apps can be pushed on it. For that sake, you can as well get the freely available android emulator for 2.1 and develop on top of that.
Unless you have some fancy graphics or qualcomm scorpion based programming to do the first android phone (G1)which had a developer version and should be available at less than half the price should suffice. Finally when you hold N1 in hand, you will realise how cute and delicate it looks(my friend claims that it passed his drop test though )as compared to your G1 which looks like a brick(it has passed rigorous testing by my 2 yr old).

^^ i agree on the emulator - thats the whole point of android being hardware agnostic. Anything which works on the emulator should work on the real phones - this is from experience with emulators for palm and android :-)

Yesterday i went to buy a Nokia 5130 Mobile phone at Poorvika mobile world. I wanted a Silver colored one and they had only two pieces and imagine what? Both the Green and Red buttons for dialing and ending calls respectively did not work, i was shocked to know the poor quality of the product, when i checked the manufacturing date , it was january 2010. I went to Univercell and got a November 2009 make which was working fine. This happened at chengalpet.

Just an update: They are giving away Philips earphones worth Rs 1300 free with Nokia 5130. This offer is available at every outlet but only when i asked for it they gave.

Mobile cost: 5300 Rs including taxes and 1GB memory card.

That's quiet obvious, isn't it? But if you are planning to really get your hands dirty and try to tweak android itself, you have no other option but to test it on phone itself.

1. Is this a dealer offer? Nokia already gives away a headset, datacable and charger along with the phone.

2. I swapped the 1 gb card for a 2 gb one, and paid 130/- extra.

BTW, I see the user manual showing 2 GB as the maximum micro SD card capacity, but Nokia website is showing 4 and 8 GB cards as compatible with the phone. ???

How good is LG GW550?

GW550 operates on Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard. The GW550 resembles the Nokia E71, which is one of the most popular Symbian smartphones of 2008-2009.

It has Quad-band GSM connectivity and tri-band UMTS connectivity, 850/1900/2100 MHz.
It possesses HSDPA 7.2Mbps and HSUPA 2.0Mbps.
It sports a small 2.4-inch QVGA display and a full QWERTY keyboard.
It is equipped with a 3MP camera and arrives with a 1,300 mAh battery.
The device has dimensions of 116 x 61.5 x 12 mm

Also has wifi, A2Dp GPS etc too.

I have an offer for this @ 8200RS ( used one). I will get 2-2.5k for my E51 ( used for 2 plus years now).

Need a backup unit - but want qwerty wonlee. I loved reading Tech2.com India Reviews > Latest Tech Reviews from Across India on PCs, Laptops, Mobile Phones, Digital Cameras, MP3 Players, Gizmos etc. -gsm/104722/0 - anyone got any other/cheaper recommendations?
What I want:
- DUAL SIM
- ergonomic QWERTY (some are bad)
- Decent battery life

and should be around/under 3k - this is a pure personal/backup phone

I am using both Nokia-maps and Google-maps on it.

Heard this is not sold anymore! 5233 is replacing it!

5233 & 5230 are different but similar looking models, 5233 is same as 5230 minues GPS & 3G.

But I hope that they have not stopped 5230.

Please tell me if it is only AGPS, then how my 5230 almost always can receive signals from six to seven satellites in the open. It works without GPRS too.

JKD no the 5233 doesnt have AGPS, check the detailed spec, I know it mentions on top screen on Nokia website that it has AGPS but detailed spec doesnt mention AGPS/GPS. Even the Box has no mention.
