Long time passion for owning a Mac. To be frank, only few months back, saw the Mac computers and lappies showcased in Delhi Airport. Have seen MAC only on movies!!!

But now, I have installed MAC in my desktop and happy to browse it.

Yet to get a own laptop for myself, will surely go for a Mac Book Pro.
Got it from the states, its not yet available here. Should retail for 3800 ish. Once you buy your first mac there is no going back!

Go to your airport on the mac (menu bar) and click on create network. Create any network with any name and add password if you want.

Then select this network from your wireless options of pc and join it.

The PC will now show up on your finder in the mac. Enter password for pc if any and you should be able to transfer files t and fro to the windoze.

Make sure that the file sharing is on in both machines. IN macs it will be in system prefs under sharing

Hey, I didn't know this thread existed. I am a Mac user since 2003. I first had a Powerbook 12" 867 MHz (the original 12-inch Powerbook). I upgraded in 2008 to a Unibody 13" Macbook 2.4GHz Core2Duo.

Ping me if anybody wants advice or help moving to a Mac.

Is there a way to delete files bypassing Trash?
Also, any quicker method to empty trash? Secure empty trash takes a lot of time and juice!
Cheers!

BTW my MacBook just doesn't connect to my wireless network. I want to erase memory of all previous networks but that just doesn't seem to happen even after i cleared preferred networks. I have no clue what to do with my Belkin N Wireless Router and the MacBook.

Please dont start the windows vs linux vs Mac war. Create a linux thread if you would like to discuss it.

It must be a problem with your wifi. Try configuring the DHCP IP manually.

Just normal usage: browsing, pages, keynote etc.

Occasionally photoshop, dreamweaver, illustrator.

cheers

I know only one simple way which I just tried yesterday. Open the pic in Preview, from the toolbar use select menu. Make your desired selection, now select the number plate section you want to blank out. After selecting the no plate, go to edit in mac window and use cut. Just save the picture and you are done.

Simpler still: you will automatically get the pic you clicked into iphoto once you connect the camera. Use the retouch button and stroke it across the number plate. It will blank out.
