Thanks, I've these installed already. Now the question I'm going to ask could be sacrilege, like the classic Safari Vs Scorpio debate. Can IE 8 be installed on my iMac and if yes then how?

You can use WineBottler to install Windows applications on Mac. I haven't tried to install IE8, but whatever I have has worked perfectly.

got my first mac in 2004 december- and became a mac junkie! sadly it packed up in 2010 and was forced to move to windows. The initial days W7 was frustrating to say the lest - once you get used to the swipes and shortcuts on the mac.
Finally - yday - bought myself the Macbook Pro 13". i7 4gb and 500gb version! so far.. LOVING IT!
Hurrah!
Got used to chrome on the PC - might install that here.. but beyond that -dont see any other apps coming through. oh yes- twhirl!

Lion spec is out, 30$ and you can upgrade! am shocked at the pricing. Only thing i did not like is its available only on app store and 4GB download is going to be a pain for us Indian net users with poor speeds!

+1 to that. Specially if you have more than 1 machine that needs to be updated.

If you have more than one machine to upgrade, you can burn the upgrade image on a disc - How to burn a Lion boot disc | TUAW - The Unofficial Apple Weblog

Once you download one copy you could use it to install OS X Lion on all your macs with the same apple id.

Perhaps if we take it to an apple authorised center they might update it for us? I heard that this might be the case for Apple Stores elsewhere across the world.

Really hope so, and a very logical way out. Hope apple has this or similar plan as back up

People who feel safe with MacOS should read this: OS X – Safe, yet horribly insecure

Security issues with MAC system are long well known. Its just that on day to day usage basis, they have much been less targeted and as a result, we see much less virus attacks.

Also Malware developed with Mac in mind is very less, as the idea is widespread reach. Since its Windows all the way for most home computing Macs dont figure much in the attack list!

EDIT: Samurai-san That is a well written article.
