Dunno if you got it already but check ebay there are reputed sellers selling it with proper bill and warranty and everything for about 29k with a promo code. If you have already got it, can you say as to how the 3G works on it and if you faced any problem in getting a micro-sim.

Cheers.

That is the sad part Shaju. No layers. That is a big let down. But still I am happy with
what ever I get. Aperture 3 is pretty decent from a features and plugin support point of view.

Many of the standard third party plugins are supported now.

Not entirely sure how much used ones go for, if a new 16gb wifi is about 21k then a used one may possible be around 17k. Just a guesstimate.

is there some sort of a compatibility mode in LION to run the applications which are not yet updated for LION? I use MTS internet (USB based) and they have not released the dialer for LION yet.

Search for the dialler based on the make & model of the USB dongle. You will surely find a dialler suitable for Lion, even if the dialler UI is in Chinese!

I was in the same situation for dongles from Reliance (ZTE device, for which I found a Pak Tel dialler) and a Huawei dongle that I use with BSNL (for which I found a dialer with a Chinese UI that work well).

Finally purchased my dream machine, the MacBook Pro. Initially enquired in Reliance and the stock wasnt available and the processing fees for the EMI was exorbitant.

Went straight to Croma and they had a offer in which we get 6000 rupees worth of accessories free. If we dont avail the option, we can get max of 3k discount on the MRP

The accessories list are,
Option 1:
Office Mac
Croma laptop bag 15"

Option 2:
Philips 2.1
Philips Headset
Sandisk 8GB Pen drive
Belkin wifi router
Targus backpack
Vodaphone 3G datacard

I opted for the option 1.

Yesterday purchased the Reliance datacard and it was a breeze.

Getting accustomed to the new Mac. I am loving it.

Kindly suggest me some apps which might be useful. Like a audio/video player, mp3 trimmer, IM et al.

Congratulations!

I would probably have taken the 3000 discount and bought iWork instead.

If you have most of your media in avi I'd reccomend VLC for video. Use iTunes for audio. If you want to watch videos in iTunes you'll have to convert the file to mp4 using a program called Handbrake and then import it into iTunes.

IM is built into the messages application.

Also get hte NTFS plug in which I believe allows you to write to an NTFS disc. I'm not sure but I believe Macs can only read by can't write to NTFS discs without this.

My system runs NTFS 3g.

Alternatively you could also format your external HDD to HFS and run time machine to keep your data backed up.

Did you buy the MacBook Pro 13 inch??

I checked at Jumbo electronics. Even they have this 6000 Accessory free offer. But he said if I dont want accesories I can take a max of 5K cash discount. I want a 15 inch one but I will have to wait for a long time I guess as it is way out of my budget right now.

Guys is there a possibilty that a new Macbook pro will be launched around August in conference that these guys have to launch products. and if this happens the current one's might go cheaper. Also what is the concept of student's discount on Macs. What I mean how much discount I can expect and what will I need to show them as document?

I am trying to look at all possibilities.

Thanks.
