So my friend has more or less decided on the 13" Mid model Pro with Retina, 2.4 GHZ, 8GB RAM and amd 256 GB SSD. Is is worth upgrading the RAM and SSD or is this configuration ok?

I have a few questions for MacBook users here

I am getting a deal on MacBook Air 13-inch dual-core i5 1.4GHz/4GB/128GB flash @ 62900/-. I am quite inclined on getting it for Mrs. Since i am a bit tight on budget i cannot upgrade anything at this moment and i will have to get it in the 128GB & 4GB configuration. 128GB isnt our concern as we hardly ever store anything on the laptop's HDD. Everything is either on cloud or external 1TB.

What is the avg price of MS Office on Mac?

The useage is not very Heavy so i think MBA is a decent option. Emails, Browsing, Photo editing etc. We have another Dell Vostro which is pretty well speced and loaded and i can safely say its pretty future proof for atleast another ~2-2.5 years.

I have heard some great things about MBA battery life and thats something that really excited us to get it as whilst on the go we don't want to be looking around for charging points and makes life easy.

Do apple products come with Intl warranty? I am planning to buy it from here and later this year planning to move to Australia so does it really make sense buying now or buy it once there to be on safer side?

Thanks a lot in advance.

Regards,

Regards,
I bought MBA 11 inch for 60k (i5, 128GB, 4GB) just before i shifted to europe in Mid 2013. This was my first venture in Apple laptops (I was using Iphone 5 which made me shifted to MBA).
This was for my wife primarily.
Now after almost a year, the experience so far is fantastic for usage.
Running windows 8.1 with bootcamp in case something comes up in unfortunate case otherwise OSX takes care of almost everything.

Battery life is really really good as apple claims. Portability of 11 inch is superb. Best part was that it came with International warranty so getting it repaired anywhere is easy.
I just purchased Apple care for next 1 year.

Bottom line is, MBA is worth every penny.

Is there a plan in place to get the new Haswell chips on the Mac mini?

When I use the email client on the Macbook to send an email, two copies of the mail is created in the Sent Items. Is this a bug with the system, or are there any settings to overcome this?

In Mail Preferences, verify if you have checked "Store sent messages on server" and uncheck that.

Cheers

Which mail client is used/recommended on Mavericks? I am fed up with Mail, loads very late and pretty slow in syncing.
Beta version of Airmail is what I am using now and looks to be good. But need a free version.

For Gmail I just dont use any client. The browser interface is more than enough. If you need it for corporate, then its a different deal.

^^Its not corporate, but my regular hotmail. Tried unchecking 'store sent messages on server', but it blank out my sent messages folder. The issue is only on Mac. the mail clients on iPhone/iPad works perfectly.

I thought the mail client was very good (Though I dont use it). Also Thunderbird is very solid. But I have not used it for MAC. So cant comment. On Windows and Unix it was very good.

Have you tried deleting the mail account and adding it again? I use hotmail with mail on mac and don't have an issue.

Thanks. Yes, tried deleting and adding the mail account again. But the issue remains. Its not a big trouble, but still an irritant
