Please help me buy a Lappy!!!

I am planning to buy a new laptop and came across a HP laptop (DV6-2005). the specs are impressive:

• AMD Turion II Ultra Dual Core M600 2.4GHz
• Level 2 cache 2MB
• 4GB DDR-3 RAM
• 500GB 7200rpm HDD
• ATI Radeon HD4660 1 GB dedicated graphics

But the problem is I heard that the AMD Turion II ULTRA is not all that great and heats up very fast. I am unable to find any information (review) about this processor in the net. So could anyone please help me out on this.

First off, there's no such thing as an HD4660. It's either 4650 or 4670, although given the midrange components used, I would tend to think it's probably the former.

Second, what do you plan on doing with it? Gaming, pro work or just regular browsing? If it's pro work, you might want to get a bigger HDD.

There shouldn't be any heating issues with the current generation of AMD processors. The heating issue is the thing of past but it seems that a lot of people have held on that myth. If the temperature still bothers you, get a decent laptop cooling pad for a couple of dollars.

Also, how long are you willing to wait to buy the notebook? I'd strongly urge to wait until January since the Intel Arrandales are just around the corner and are going to be real game changers.

I will be using the laptop as a desktop replacement and will be using it for playing games also.But not too much of pro work.IMO the Intel Arrandales will be costly on time of release.

For gaming I'd suggest a better GPU, such as Mobility radeon HD4850 or nvidia GTX260M!

btw from where are you planning to buy it?

EDIT - DELL studio laptops are already available with Corei7 M processors along with HD4670 at dell store.

Arrandles are supposed to be segment replacements for the existing batch of Penryns so there's very little chance for a significant price increase.

If you're going for a DTR, why not buy a 17" laptop that'll get you a better processor (Core i7M) along with a numeric keypad?

I meant DTR because I will be using it in the college hostel, so portability is an issue. Gaming will be occasional. i7 processors are way too expensive, the same goes to GTX260M.Buying from Dubai as I am going there in november for a short vacation.Also Dell with a good configuration is really tough to find there.These are the laptops I have shortlisted. (Dhs4k is my max budget if i ask for more dad will kick my a**)

Graphics wise - HP one is wayyy better!

and I think it has a HD4650! (HP DV6 2005AX Best Buy Specification in Delhi for best price and best deal)

whichever you buy, please avoid Acer esp. if you plan to use the laptop in a not so delicate manner - their build quality is pathetic ! My AMD64 Athlon X2 powered Acer 4520 conked off a week ago, and its just 2 months out of warranty - i need to either get the mainboard replaced @INR 10.5 or get it fixed for INR 5k as per what Acer tells me !

Thanks to all for the suggestions provided.
But how does AMD Turion II Ultra Dual Core compare with Intel C2D P8700, when we take everyday use into consideration. The AMD processor is the main reason why I am sceptic of buying the HP.

Whereas C2D P8700 is 34th!! - Notebookcheck: Mobile Processors - Benchmarklist

But since P8700 is penryn, you wont be able to use DDR3 ram in ASUS like in the HP one

Thanks dude!!! you have been of great help. After I went through the HP website I seriously have doubt about the DDR3 RAM part also, so I have sent the shop guys an email requesting clarification.
