That gives the map directly. Is there statistics mentioned anywhere?
For example number of cities, number of POIs etc.

Sorry, I don't know.

For me, those statistics might be some sort of comparison between different systems, but otherwise, I don't see them to be very useful. What is the point in knowing how many "cities" in India are covered if the street you want to find is not? For instance, the OVI coverage for the city of Chennai is pretty good, and the detail is quite good too, but, approach the edges and it very soon runs out. That means that it is useless for the very time I need it most.

This was pure curiosity on my part. At least for Satguide and MMI I can get a feel of much they cover. Just wanted to a similar idea about Ovi.

Default OVI Maps - Kochi - Nokia E66

I have been using OVI maps in my E66 for the last couple of weeks and my experience is as follows.

1. The battery charge goes down pretty fast and will not last for 24hrs.
2. Is there any option to save the routes and share with others?

1. Download the latest nokia ovi suite from-
Nokia India - Nokia Ovi Suite - Download software - Get support and software

2. Launch the application. Connect your phone to the PC (should be connected to the net). It may ask you to select your phone model.

3. Go to Tools>Software updates. This will check for any updates available. You can update your maps and other ovi apps from here.

I am using the Nokia maps. Nothing great, but will ensure that you dont get lost. Maps are not very accurate. The positioning system is pretty much precise, for example while taking sharp turns, small signals etc

Quick question on OVI maps - any idea how many cities are covered. I could only see 4 metros, BLR, HYD, jaipur. Any more cities covered?

mail4ajo, number of cities that are covered is not an issue, it has a map of most indian cities, the only minor issue as you have pointed out is the accuracy of the maps. I have been using ovi maps as well as google maps and find google maps more accurate/ comprehensive.

Which is better for inter-state (say Karnataka to Kerala or TamilNadu) driving help/directions - Nokia maps (with nokia 5230) or Google maps (via android smartphone)?

Basically, which map is more accurate on highways?

Google Maps all the way buddy.

You can infact compare these two on the net. You will find a vast difference. Also, Ovi sometimes behaves idiotically. Shows route where none exists. At other times vice versa.

Yes sirrreeee. Google Maps it is.

I too use both Google maps and Ovi maps on my E7. I found both of them pretty good, provided you have downloaded the latest Ovi maps.

I have used them in Kerala, Karnataka, Goa and TN and Ovi maps very pretty good. The only dis-advantage of Ovi maps is; while searching you have to give the correct spelling (as in Ovi maps) or else it will fail the search.

I generally do a google search if I dont know the spelling of the place and then after finding the right spelling, switch onto Ovi maps.
