A few queries here: Does 7.1 really make a difference over a 5.1 setup? Do DVDs come with a 7.1 track nowadays? Wouldn't so many small speakers make the overall sound too bright? Will just a single sub-woofer provide enough low end punch?

I've listened to plenty of "high-end" home theater setups at friends places and frankly found them pretty ordinary sound-wise but great in the looks department. I guess that's where the "Lifestyle" bit comes in huh? I would still go in for a powerful two channel amp with an analogue equalizer driving 12 or 15 inch three way speakers.

Cheers

i dont know about other high end systems as i was not interested in onkyo or jbl. i felt they were too bright and overtly priced.

about the performance of my system, i am very happy with the performance

Philips 762K DVD player
Onkyo HTS-760 6.1 home theater set (Receiver + speakers + sub : I think it is 85/100W per channel)
Philips PixelPlus2 36" Flatscreen TV (16:9 widescreen TV)
Connected with Philips component cables
Worldspace BPL receiver

Someday, plan to get a pair of B&W's..

All time favorite DVDs:
1. Lord of the Rings Part1
2. Fast and Furious
