What am I doing wrong?
I am sorry, missed one step. Unzip the file, change the name of the index file to the title.html, or you will end-up with lots of docs titled index. htmlz is nothing but zipped html and other required directories like images, css etc

The reason for this round about trip is, with this I could easily read with all the benefits of mobi format. No problem with Kannada too.

Is this deal still available? Can you share the link? Interested in Kindle Paperwhite with 300 ppi wifi version. Hope its the same one you bought?

Also a general question to Kindle users how many free books available for download? Also does it come preloaded with some standard books?

It comes with the manual pre-loaded.
Free books? Well lot of Chetan Bhagat books at very low price, though I have not bought any of those.

Taking the liberty to answer. Nope. None of the books from the Top Fiction writers like Archer, Ludlum, Follet are ever free. The older ones you get at decent rates. $2-3 (under INR 200)

The reason for this round about trip is, with this I could easily read with all the benefits of mobi format. No problem with Kannada too.
So, I took this book.htmlz file, opened it in 7-zip and renamed the index file to title.html without actually extracting anything.

This obviously was not enough since it was still a .htmlz file. So, I renamed it to .zip.
Then using "kindlegen -c2 book.zip -gif -o book.mobi" command I get

Quote:
Info(prcgen):I1053: Unpacking Zip file
Error(prcgen):E21025: Expected format file not found.
Error(prcgen):E21021: Problem while unpacking input file -

Edit: So, I extracted the book.zip to a 'book' folder.

And then ran the command
kindlegen -c2 book\title.html -gif -o book.mobi

This started the parsing now. Need to see what the output is on the kindle later tonight.

You have to extract the files. To make it clean, extract to a new directory and in that directory run Kindlegen after renaming index.html

Kindlegen -gif input.html -o test.mobi

Input.html is the renamed index file.
The directory will have two more directories I think, images and css if I remember correctly

I use Mac at home and Linux at office. I think you are using windows, else could have sent you a simple Perl script to automate many PDF files.

Just a bonus: calibre can edit the title, author out any other meta information, single file or in batch mode.

Ok Thanks! I will then buy it for $119

Can you share your experience with it? How does it feel to read a book on Kindle? Do you miss that hardback feel or overall experience is not that bad?

Also, is there a link that I can review the "FREE" books that's available for Kindle?
