Today I made a Skype call from the Eten M600 while the GSM was still on...its TWO phones in one (IP and GSM) which must be a first. With free wireless internet access one can easily call all your friends for FREE or at ridiculously low rates (how does 1.7p - yes PENCE and not POUNDS - per minute to the UK sound??????)

I am very impressed by the Eten M600. Its Samsung processor (400 mhz) beats Intel CPUs rated at higher clockspeeeds (525 mhz) HANDS DOWN. I just might end up buying one....

iMate JAM or Motorola A1000 FOR SALE!!!!!!

YES!!!

I have a 6630 and its PAINFULLY slow... the funny thing is that it can handle multimedia apps and pics/vids/3d games with ease....but when it comes to simple things like opening the call register log it takes one frustrating second too long!

I was hoping for a firmware update to solve this but havent heard of anything!
Any clues guys?

Not anymore with the new CPU's and new OS. Nokia N-series are pretty fast alongwith 3250

previous symbian phones had really slow cpu's.

p910 had only 168mhz, nokia n-gage had only 104mhz. Another bottleneck was the memory available in the phone.

Nokia has addressed these issues.

Etencorp's phones are actually better than the Quanta phones. The only issue is the cheaper build quality. Even Benq p50 has skype telephony.

Same goes for intel cpu's against samsung's cpu's .Samsung's cpu is much better in performance per clock speed compared to intel's xscale series. Intel itself has acknoledged the fall in performance with increase in clock speed for this architecture. New Cpu's have already been announced by intel and will be out this summer. Until then samsung is the king. Benq p50 is a good phone too and has an advantage over eten in price and the keyboard.

Devarshi, i've always been a nokia guy.
But, after this irritatingly slow, crashing OS(in 3230) i wanted to move to the O2. Now, after what u've told, i might be looking at the N90.
What do u think??

Sorry to tell ya that nokia 3230 has actually been a failure in the market. Its not performed according to the customers expectations.

N90 at 173 grams is one of the heaviest phones. I wouldnt buy one. Performancewise it's pretty good though. But I would suggest O2 if you have only used a symbian smartphone until now and if camera is not a priority. Secondly symbian phone is not worth paying anything above 20k today. Trying out windows would be a good idea as palm doesnt sell well in India and linux would be tough for you.

Also in O2 look for a windows 2005 model like xda atom.
