With the Google maps now supporting Voice based navigation, it is simply awesome and quite useful.
It calls out the street/road name along with right/left instructions and quickly recalculates the new route should you make any deviations from the marked route.

Waze has been updated to provide navigation for longer distances now, is this an old news ?

Well I use Waze a lot but it was long back that I tried using it for distance longer than 100 kms, it denied saying that the app does not provide navigation for more than 100 kms as of now. I tried it after a long time and it work perfectly, feels almost like an independent gps unit. Please ignore if you feel

I’ve a strange problem with Waze (iPhone 4S, iOS 5.1.1).

I drive Honda City (ANHC), it has iPod integration, which plays music from iPods and iPhones. I use Waze during my drives in the city while playing music. Whenever there is an announcement from Waze, music playback stops. I’ve to stop the music system and start for music to play. This problem is unique to Waze, because music continues seamlessly after interruption by e-mail or SMS or calls. Has anybody else faced this problem and what is the solution?

I recently used Waze on a trip to Pune and was really impressed. The best part about Waze was its ability to search Foursquare for destinations. With most restaurants and other places that probably wouldn't show up in a regular GPS's database making sure you get exactly where you want.

Hi, I've relocated to Israel, and Waze is fabulous here in the land of its origin. Some quirks, the basemap is available only in Hebrew, but the voice guidance, the input and the notifications are in English. I'm running it on a Samsung Galaxy S3, which is great. The country being small, mobile coverage is mostly seamless, and thanks to the large and enthusiastic user community here traffic and police notifications work well. So far it has taken me flawlessly pretty much all over the north and central part of the country, will report when I explore the Negev / Eilat soon. (Having just reread this post, maybe its time to start my holy land travelogues

Apple Interested in Purchasing Social Turn-by-Turn Navigation Company Waze? - http://www.macrumors.com/2013/01/02/...-company-waze/

Quote:
Citing "rumours flying around", TechCrunch reports that Apple appears to be investigating the possibility of acquiring Waze, the popular social turn-by-turn navigation company. Waze, which takes advantage of real-time info from users to help others keep up-to-date on the latest road and traffic conditions, is already a partner in Apple's new Maps app, and an acquisition could help Apple beef up its struggling mapping services.

Time to uninstall Waze if and when Apple takes over them.

I was doubtful of the Apple acquisition as Microsoft had already invested $25 million in Waze way back in June.

Hope that doesn't happen, sounds too gay. Bottom line is that whoever acquires it will pack it, market it and put a price tag on it and give you the base version w/o navigation for free, which is a shame.

Well to be honest I didn't mean it like that. What I meant was the pervasive need of Google (or any search engine company for that matter) to know everything about everybody.
