When I got the BB plan activated I got a msg saying that Airtel Live has been de activated.
Now I am using my home WiFi connection to download the messengers on my BB.
Is it possible that the phone might end up using the BB plan for download and Airtel might charge me for it or am I safe with browsing with my home WiFi.
Can one browse or download stuff using the 299 plan unknowingly ?

I too use my home WiFi connection to browse on my Bold and i too hoping it wont be charged as i assume it the home broadband that is being exploited and not airtel. We are only using the WiFi feature of the blackberry for this connection, hope my understanding is correct.

Swapped it and paid 4000 less for the new one. God, that curve went with me through hell and back.

In Cochin it even fell totally inside a puddle of water and still worked.

Default Bb 8820

Hello BB users,

I have been using a BB 8820 for the last 1 year. Initially I was on the 899 full coverage plan with Vodafone. I later realized, since it has Wi-Fi and my net surfing was limited I have switched to the Prosumer Lite (299) monthly plan. This plan allows multiple email configurations and also multiple chat clients. If you do need to surf then you need to be in a Wi-Fi zone which for me have it at home too.

For all BB accessories I would strongly recommend OtterBox and to procure you can use their India vendor Fommy India #1 Store for Mobile Phones, BlackBerry, Treo, Bluetooth, Nokia, iPod, Motorola, Samsung & Cell Phone Accessories. I have been using the Defender series as a cover for my BB and believe me it has reaped me the benefits by keeping my phone in pristine condition.

Thanks,

Samit

2. I have got a price of Rs 20490 for Curve 8900(B&W) without any plan & Rs 22990 with Lite plan (Rs 299 Plan for 1 year included and B&W). Is this deal good? or should I go for 8520 from Airtel at 16000 for Handset + lite plan?
3. Over & above this 299 plan I need to get a voice plan. Confused on this. How does the rental work then? 299 + Voice Rental + Voice Usage?
4. Will I be able to access my Company mails on BB? How do I go about doing this?
the Javelin you have mentioned is it unlocked or an operator locked handset?

Malgudi- the rates you have got are pretty good. Last I heard the 8900 was still at 24k level prices. Where did you get these prices from?

Does vodafone provide a one year 299plan at a discount?

Could someone post an OTA Opera,Bolt and BBM5 link that actually works?! Thanks.

no man, you can get a grey market 8900 for 19k. with warranty is around 22k i think.

go to m.crackberry.com for opera. youll find other interesting apps there like viigo, vlingo, gmaps.

for bbm5. open google on your phone and search for "blackberry messenger 5 ota download" , click the first link which should be pocketberry and download the one for your phone and firmware.

Got the New Blackberry Curve 8520 for Mom's birth-day tomorrow! I bought it from Alfa with Bill & Warranty, bought the 'locked to Airtel' one. The 'grey market' unlocked one was available too, it was a T-Mobile and had a grey body, looked like the old curve 8310 and was more expensive at 16,500/-. I got the Airtel locked one for 15,850/-. Though the screen is not a patch on my Bold's screen resolution. The Bold is stunning. Got an Airtel Pre-paid Sim card and will get the 299 plan activated before midnight.

The above 8900 rates are from Reliance GSM (Employee Rates) with B&W and from what I was told it is not network locked. Cannot say for sure as they did not have in display and I would have had to order before I could lay my hands on one. Shall update once I get a confirmation.

@Akshay- that damn pocketberry link doesn't work, for that matter all of the googled links fail once the download completes.

How easy is it to unlock and Airtel 8520?

Would anyone know the best price for an unlocked 8520 & where i can get it from?
Also, it should not have the Airtel Logo on the bottom.

I have been quoted 17K for an Airtel unlocked one.
