Exchange Swift for OHC - Team-BHP

A friend of mine wanted me to look for a OHC. I had shown him a 2002 1.3 Delux, october month car done 36000 kms with service records. The car looks neat and has a 10 cd changer. The final price quoted was 4.2 Lakhs. My friend stayed away from the deal at the last moment.

I was thinking whether to sell off my Swift Vxi 2005 model done 10000 kms ( i understand i may lose around 60k) & purchase this OHC.

Just curious to check is there specific advantage that Swift has over OHC?

I feel 4.2 is on the higher side for 1.3 OHC. You may find a decent 1.5 at at that price.

Swift v OHC 1.3
I say keep the Swift - its new, only you have used it and know its got no problems, reliable, modern looking, probably safer.

OHC 1.3 (36k done) and 4.2lakhs sounds too damn much!
Its got nothing (atleast when its a 36k kms old vehicle) on the Swift.

Why would you want to buy an OHC 1.3 unless you really want to have a boot? (Then you wouldn't have gone for Swift in first place).

4.2 L for a 1.3 OHC is daylight robbery .. U can get the same in bangalore for around 3L .. Another lakh and u could buy urself a used VTEC over the 1.3 that ur planning to buy .. Stick to the swift , from a drivers car point of view the 1.3 OHC doesnt come anywhere close to the performance of the swift ..

hmm.. I dont understand why people are getting bored of Swift (specially the owners).. You are not the only case, there are many people who i know, who no longer find "anything special" with their Swifts... maybe the expectations were a little too high when it was launched.
Coming back to the question though, i would suggest you strongly against it.. unless you are hell bent on a boot and Honda badge.

For 4.2 you could get a 1.5 OHC make of the same year

Thanks for your feedbacks. No, Iam not attached to the boot space. I really love OHC very much on the looks front.

Thought OHC will atleast match Swift on all the fronts. Since Iam comfortable with Swift, just though why not have the model (design) we love in additon to all the comforts.

I could not get one in Second hand and hence finalized with SWIFT. Thought of sacrificing my Swift for OHC 1.3. But if Swift Scores over OHC on the safety front, I need to put my desire off.

Anyway decided against this. THANKS A LOT.

PS: Checked with a dealer for sale of my car & was the initial offer was 3.7 lakhs

It was put on the site. It was a beautifully, maintained vehicle.

Here, the dealers don't know what VTEC means and they argue with nonsense. So, :(

4 laks is a proper price i guess since it is a 2nd hand already. i think hondas are way overpriced. i still missed the black vtec 2003 i was going for in 2005 which was for sale for 6.25. i chucked it and got a new city cvt for 9.5 laks last week.
