Hey ppl.i'am 26 year old and drive a zen lxi fully loaded...plannin to change ..i have 2 cars in mind.. Fial Palio and OHC V-tec..pls suggest.

for sheer performance, you could look at the baleno, OHC, Palio 1.6, fiesta 1.6, NHC VTEC

buttt - please give more detailed inputs - like budget, expectations on FE, handling, comfort, maintenance, used or new, etc etc ....

we would be glad to help you out, but first you need to help yourself with what you exactly want from a car ... besides the adrenalin pump

Also look at the baleno very seriously....that is one underrated car and u can get a good one in the used market for the price of a new wagon R.

But if u want performance, please make sure u get the tyres of the baleno uprated if u go in for one.

Actually, for 6 L u can now get a new baleno....think about that!

hey thanx for the advice guys...well my budget is betweet 5 and 6 lacs...i always perfer a new car, but i dont mind givin a second hand car a thought as well..here are my priorities.

1.performance
2.comfort and handling
3.maintenance

i dont have a liking towards the nhc coz of its looks ....

Performance - OHC / Baleno
comfort - baleno.. no second thoughts
maintainence - baleno..

Take the Baleno Lxi
Good performance

Go for the baleno over ohc.
tho ohc has better performance but please keep in mind that its not under production now & spares may get costly & maybe even not available after some time.Also with a budget of 6 lacs u can get a baleno lxi & alloy wheels.

Baleno is too dated to consider buying one. Performance of the new model is also down from what it used to be in pre BS III norms. I suggest you consider either the Fiesta 1.6 or OHC Vtec. The best option would be to wait a few months and stretch your budget by 1l or 2, and than u have more options!

well a used car is a used car and a new car is always better

fiat palio is the hottest hatch and well worth the money you pay. I would recommend you get a hatch for good city driving. pep up your car with the extra money to beat the other cars in performance

maruti baleno is an excellent sedan for the price. Fuel efficiency from the powerful engine is good but the Bharat-III car has lost 4hp and the performance is not seriously mind blowing. Auto a/c on the vxi is a boon and maruti service is an asset. Lxi without the frill of vxi is good too but you may want 14" alloys.

honda city vtec was once the best performance car and still beats many better cars up and down. But you will have to buy used and there is no gurantee how the previous owner would have ripped the car.

I would recommend a fiat palio 1.6. Its a bit slower than the baleno and OHC vtec but you can spend that extra money to make it faster. Its easier to drive in the city and no denying that it is also more safer than the baleno and maybe the vtec too.

i was with a zen as well a few months back, and landed up replacing it with a ohc 1.5. spares according to the rules have to be provided for atleast 10 years after a car is off the production line.
the only other car that i could possible think of buying would be a baleno, but again not a brand new one as its too dated to put 6-6.5 lakhs into. get yourself a 2002-2004, and save yourself from the depreciation hit.but again if you plan to take a load and stuff, then the newbaleno sounds slughtly better thanks to cheaper interest rates on new cars.
