With no requirements I can recommend you the following.

Swift vxi fully loaded is one of the good overall cars.
Indigo xeta is the best value for money
palio 1.6 is still the hottest hatch around.
indigo sedan is the cheapest VFm sedan
Petra is the most powerful sedan in your budget.
Ikon 1.3 is a good overall car.

Hey JK,

What about the Mileage of Petra... My fren's Esteem gives him 12 with 100% AC that too in bangalore city. I think that's where Petra cookie crumbles.

My Petra(petrol) gives me 10-11kmpl in city with 50% AC and have given 15-16 kmpl on highways(with reliance fuel).
Esteem is 1.3 L and much lighter than petra so 12 kmpl is not very good.

Cheers.

What is the best car that I can get with this.
Just with initial research ,i have listed out a few
Swift,
Palio,
Getz
any more?

Abhijit.
infact all ur initial choices are good.

Swfit - Most contemporary with maruti trust
Palio - Perhaps the best car provided u can afford the fuel and maintenance
Getz - A bit of both of the above

if u r looking for saloons u can include top end esteem or entry level baleno.

Bro,
i would reccomend that you go in for a Petra 1.9 D. (Fuel Efficiency is one of his priorities).
If you can bargain hard, the car should come under 5.75L.
It has everything you are looking for and more.
Its pros are -
1. Best compromise between ride and comfort in its class
2. Really really good build quality
3. the safest car within your budget barring the Swift ZXI
4. Good boot space
5. The diesel engine should keep you happy regarding fuel costs

Cons -
Looks and service.
Even resale value but if you plan to keep the car for a long time then it wouldn't be of much bother.

The Palio is almost identical barring the boot space and is a whole lot cheaper.

Cheers and keep us updated

Do you think its good choice for begginer like Abhijeet? Handling a Diesal that too from FAIT will be bit too much on him. FIAT Cars are good for seasoned drivers and car lovers and you need to be in little bit of dont care mode too. Which I feel Abhijeet is not in. So My chioice will go for a Maruti. It will keep you happy until you can become mature enough to handle unhappyness.
Just an advise.

Hi Abhijeet,

Having owned quite a few cars over the last 12 years and having recently bought a Palio 1.2 ELX, I can safely say that go for this beauty.

The interiors of the elx version are brilliant, it is more than adequately powered for city use, and in bangalore, it is giving me 12 KPL (though the engine is brand new) with 50% AC.

The ride is nothing short of amazing and u would have to pay upwards of 10L to experience a similar ride on any other car (Skoda Octavia)

I too was looking at the swift but was put off by is shoddy build quality and serious cost cutting done by MUL. Just shut the doors and u will know what I am talking about.

Cheers
