| I have shortlisted a few cars. Before I get into that, I am not the looks person. I need the car to be running, good engine, low maintenance, comfort to the folks in the car if on a long drive. Cars short listed - Swift Petrol - Swift Diesel - Avoe U-VA Any u suggest Price range - 5 -6 lksMaintenance & After Sales Service (A.S.S.) expectations - Good maintenance / after sales support - Should have some way to help if stuck on the road / highway Average distance traveled per month - 900 - 1000 kms. - Long drive 200 - 500 kms once a month Where car will be mostly used (city / highway / rough roads etc) - City Bangalore roads Chauffer driven / self driven --- Self driven Whether the vehicle will be shared by other members of family - no. driven by me. - me , wife and child + parents sometimes Any specific requirements from car (ex. Better luggage space, responsive engine, rear seat comfort) - rear seat comfort - low on fuel and low on maintenance How long you intend on keeping this car (and how important resale is to you) - 5 yrs minimum - Aftersales is a + , but not sure after 5 yrs what will happen. Hope this helps you all gauge what i am looking for. Cheers. |

| If rear seat comfort is your first priority, Swift is probably not the right choice for you. Whatever you choose, it isn't really worth paying that much extra for a diesel. Running of 1500 kms per month isn't enough to cover the high initial cost for diesel. Any reason, why you aren't considering Getz ? It probably satisfies your requirements more than Swift or U-VA considering Hyundai a.s.s. is fantastic. |

| Senior - BHPian | Look at Getz. It has lot of space behind and fantastic service. UV-A backup wouldn't be very good. Neither would its resale value. Swift rear seat is very cramped and claustrophobic. Stay away from it if you have elders who will use the car. The getz is bigger and more comfortable. Cheers

| Senior - BHPian | eyes closed..buy the swift..its got everything you want..ok maybe a tad behing on rear seat comfort..but then its better than the u-va....i got a bit when i saw the tires on the u-va..cycle tires look thicker.. but then again the tires on the swift arent so good either.other than that its a winner all round..its got all you need.Dont buy a black colour..too high to maintain.

| Senior - BHPian | Except for Rear seat comfort Swift is good, Swift is cramped car, Getz, UVA, Palio better ones among hatch, Or wait for 2 months Logan is great car, it has great space for family like 4 people Logan is great car! Regards, Ravi.

| Senior - BHPian | I would advise against the Swift, as rear seat comfort is a bother. Would have sufficed if it was just you, and ur family, but with ur parents also being a part of the bandwagon, wudnt recommend Swift. Getz wud be a much better option, and Hyundai A.*.S. shud be satisfactory.

| Dear Hondadude Swift Diesel is brilliantly priced. Do you still think that there is that extra flab of Initial cost of Diesel car?. Today, in Bangalore at least, more than the Kilometers per month, number of hours engine is on and running makes sense according to me. Still, I do agree that once in six months you need to spend Rs 2000 on Diesel engine maintenance which wold be 50% in case of petrol engines. Correct me if I am wrong. |

| Go for Esteem. Very good suspension, out of the world reliability and literally no maintenance for at least 6 years. I owned Esteem for 8 years and was never let me down. (I travel considerable 42 KM's 5 days a week and frequent long drives in the range of 400 + kilometers both way) Esteem is the best car which fits all your criteria's

| Actually, for a budget of 6L you can also look at the Baleno LXI- I got mine for 6.05 OTR Bangalore. Being a Maruti, A.S.S. and low maintenance are a certainty. Plus you get loads of space, brilliant engine and AC and terrific driving pleasure! Check it out.

| for your requirement i think a getz and a swift petrol will be ideal... don't know much about the swift diesel on the maintenance front but both swift and getz are low on maintenance.
