Default Pre-owned Getz

A friend of mine is selling off his GETZ GLS 2005 and I am comtemplating to buy it. Just want to know, is there performance difference in the present GETZ compared to these earlier batches of car? I had read somehwhere, that Hyundai had new ECU for GETZ units 2006 onwards.
Also how is the air-conditioning of GETZ? Is it weak by any chance?
And how do I get the car inspected, I am thinking of taking it to HMP. But what should be asking them to do?

I am mainly going to use the car for city driving, averaging 30kms a day.

Also my friend is claming the FE to be 11-11.5 in city with AC on and soft handling. Is this fair?

Thanks very much

The average should be around 10 in traffic with ac....the airconditioning is pretty strong...its a better car than swift....swift really gives you a bumpy ride...its a good choice.

Our Getz returns around 12-14kmpl in city when driven on a light foot.

Good choice... Getz is perfect for city driving. Its smooth power delivery doesn't necessitate frequent gear shifts.

But, try to get at least 30% off the current value of the new car, even if it's your friend who's selling the car. Otherwise, a new Zen/WagonR will be more fuel efficient, hence a better choice (since your daily running is slightly high). A used Swift can also be considered, if rear-seat comfort is not a priority.

I am not hell-bent on FE front, but should not be less than 10kpl with 100%AC. I prefer GETZ as overall package. I am not too comforable with the looks of Swift, WagonR or the new ZEN.

Thanks

According to me Getz will return maximum 10kmpl as FE in congested traffic with AC. But again it depends on roads and driving style.

Getz is good car.

Ravi.

I've got a pre-owned getz GL myself it is a dec 2004 model which I picked up in Oct 2006 with 13,000 kms on ODO for 3.15 lacs.Air conditioning is great and is really smooth to drive in the city as well as the highway. It returns avg of 11.5-12 in city driving and 16+ on the highway.

Exactly what I ended up doing after hunting lots for a used Palio GTX . Go for it! Nothing like buying a new car.
