After 62 replies on this thread, I've realised it may be a bit flawed afterall. This poll would never give us a clear picture of the actual winner.
The aggregate of points for the petrol and diesel versions of the Swift may be 78, but we need to get an accurate picture as to which version does better on this poll.I'm sure it cannot be a case of the petrol version getting 60+ votes and the diesel getting the remaining 18, or vice versa. It will more likely be a 50-50 thing.Even if I were to vote for the Swift, it would be diesel version and not petrol. The two,ie the diesel and petrol should NOT have been combined for the simple reason that the two versions are different and are meant for different purposes. There is also a difference in the level of technology involved.
On the other hand, out of the 60 votes for the Palio, 52 of those are for the Palio 1.6.The two versions-1.1 and 1.6 are different and meant for diferent purposes, hence they were separated in this poll. The same should have been done for the Swift.
So if we had a clearer picture of the votes for Swift's petrol version, it would have helped. The 6 year old Palio 1.6 still remains a strong contender as the best petrol hatch with its 52 votes. In diesels, its got to be the Swift.
However, as things stand on this poll, The Swift (diesel + petrol) seems to be the winner.

A year ago, I would say Palio 1.6.
Today, it has to be the Ford Fusion. Good interiors, good space, different looks, and good punch as well. Comparitive body roll is its only only weakness, but, even that's not too bad.
I like the Swift ZXi as well, but, poor allround visibility and the cramped interior sometimes gets on my nerves.
