Swift Mileage(Petrol) in city can vary anywhere from 10-14, depending on traffic conditions and driving style. 11-12 should be more like it for the average Joe.

have you taken a TD of a Swift yet?

@nids: Let me again tell you, none of the cars in your list will be comfortable to use based on your requirement, Alto is the best bet for starters. My 2 cents

I second Jaggu here. You've tried almost everything that goes without a boot. Alto is a great car and it should keep you happy. Its very economical to run and live with, the driving position is reasonably good and the car is reasonably peppy, and the obvious-its a Maruti.I would close my eyes and buy it over a Zen Estilo.

Thank you people for your valuable suggestions.

And SORRY for going off into hibernation on this thread and the forum. The latest is that I am starting my driving lessons tomorrow ( finally !! ) on a Santro.

Also, my brother has allowed me to use his old santro for a month or so to practice driving on it till I get comfortable enough to test drive the cars that I shortlisted.

I will keep you updated with my driving lessons. Meanwhile , keep the suggestions coming in. They really help.
