Default SX4-VXi or Logan DLX

Hi,

I would like to have forum's opinion on the above. I have zeroed down on SX4-Vxi/Logan-DLX/Verna-CRDI/Indigo-LX.

Indigo LX and Verna ruled out as the ealier does not have refinement and later is too away from budget 8.74L - OTR. Adventure ruled out as the FE is too low.

My Budget:7L. OTR price- SX4-Vxi-7.34L & Logan DLX-7.13L in Bangalore.
Performance: I would like 100 horses rather than 68.
FE: It is important to me as I will be driving around 300~400 kms/week.
Fuel to be used: Diesel preferred.
Interiors: Should have good space. Both SX4 & Logan are OK to me.
Looks: OK with logan and sx4 both.
Boot space: Should be there but not so important.
A.S.S: Maruti is good (as I own a Maruti) and I feel M&M must be good.
Resale: Important to me.
Duration of using the car: About 5 years.

So, there I'am. Do suggest me a best way out.......

Of course SX4 Vxi .. No doubt about it !!! ( If Petrol )

BUT if you want shattering performance and FE and are willing to extend yr budget - close your eyes and Buy a VERNA CRDi.

if you say 300~400 kms/week, i think you should go for a diesel. As you are more inclined towards performance, i would recommend Verna if you can stretch your budget.

If you are ready to compromise on performance, then we have some more options -

Indigo - You said refinement is not good. A test drive may help. It may not be class leading but quite good enough and easy to maintain. You can also consider XL for added comfort.

Fiesta - A very refined engine but expensive. Should not have much problems with this.

Logan - This is not bad but I think it is over priced (my view). I would rather stretch my budget and buy Verna any day.

you can even look at the Indica since boot space is not important to you and will save a lot of money too + diesel efficiency.

Go for the SX4 without a second thought. It offers much better package!

IMO,If anybody has the budget for an SX4,they should not consider the Logan.
There are very few good factors about the Logan and aren't worth it.

I don't even see a comparison! Not bcoz I own an SX4 VXi, but if I were you, I'd much rather own a risk-free package (SX4 - with better looks and snob value) than a Logan - a car that people have slowly started 'accepting', even in Team-bhp.

But again, everything depends on the weightage you'd allot to different parameters.

On a total of 100, how much weightage would you allot to diesel vs. petrol, A.S.S, snob value, design & looks, power, possible resale value etc - assuming that space isn't a problem with both the cars?

Logan D or Adventure is good bet.

SX4-Vxi-7.34L is not VFM at all compared with Logan Diesel, Aveo 1.4 and Adventure. If you like SX4 (FE between 10 and 14kmpl) and can wait for the car buy it.

Advantage If you buy Logan D Since your usage is more Diesel makes sense, Logan D is best Fuel efficient sedan (between 14 and 20kmpl) and its practical too.

Aveo 1.4 is really VFM it has got good features and very nice Sedan. FE between 10-14kmpl.

Adventure (FE between 9 and 14kmpl) although its petrol very cheap to buy and in Bangalore no issue of spare parts, more than lacs of rupees you save while buying can last for lac kilometer You spend extra maximum 70 paisa per kilometer on fuel bills for adventure compared with SX4/Aveo petrol. since you keep car for 5 years no need to worry about resale value. Trust me in 5 years down the line indian automotive scene will be completely changed.

so if its Petrol Adventure best choice if Diesel Logan D.

Regards,

Ravi.

Thanks for response guys.

@ravibhat: I thought SX4 is a good VFM considering my usage. But it appears not. One thing in Logan I have noticed during test drive is that when the ac is on their is a power lag. It does not pull (not even like WagonR).

Though both are new vehcles, SX4 might be better when compared to A.S.S. As far as Logan is concerned, this is the first car released by M&M and I feel they are testing on us. Any negative feedback given by us, will be sent to M&M for further improvements on the models. Of course, the Engine is made by Renault but the availability of Spare parts and A.S.S might be a question to contend with.....What say ????

He has specifically mentioned Adventure is out!

Adventure owners have reported mileage from 8+ kmpl, 5.8- 12 kmpl, 8.5- 12 kmpl, 8.17- 13kmpl etc. (city- highway)

What I mean is If Adventure is ruled out just for lower FE its not the case. We save huge money when we buy Adventure which we can go for lac. kilometrs once we complete it

When we struck in traffic jam or if we drive every day in city where stp and go traffic always I do agree Adventure gives 8kmpl as FE in city However in this case others cars will give 1km less FE. People who post won't mention condition of traffic, I have seen FE results with different traffic conditions on many cars, thats why I am telling.

Diesel is perfect fit for usage like 300 to 400km per week. SX4 is good as well considerring its Maruti.

Regards,

Ravi.
