Will try to go there over the weekend and check the car out!
You mean the showroom at Koramangala? They better give you discount cause everybody offers discount (except NHC may be for their heavy booking). Don't take their music system. You can by stuff of your own choice from the money that you save as discount.

Hey Lambo,

Do you know anyone there? If yes, could you check if they have any Palio 1.6's left behind?

Thanks

I have also heard of the pathatic serrive that Sundram provides for the fiat cars. Being the only Fiat dealer in Bangalore he is not willing to give any discounts.

Sail in my opinion is a brilliant car. Looks are dated but Build, interiors and AC are class apart. It just glides over the Bangalore pot holes. It is a bit sluggiest with ac upto 40km/hr. After that the engine is good.
FE in Bangalore with AC is 11 and i am getting 16-17 on highway with AC.
Recently the Ex showroom has been shashed to 3.99 lac in Bangalore....
Also you can get good discounts on sail as there are two dealers in Bangalore.

Default Esteem Safety?

Why do you say so? It has a crumple zone thing done on its chassis, plus collapsible steering with side-impact beams. What other safety features do you think are important? Plus, which of these can be done on an Esteem once you buy one.

It's cruel to compare Esteem with Petra on safety aspects.

you get me wrong. I want to know abt safety in Esteem per se, not compared to any other car. At its price, its quite a VFM you know, and saying its not safe in spite of all the things that re there, you must have some solid reason.

Would appreciate an objective assessment. If this has been done in some other forum, please direct me to it.

TIA,
Simran

Sorry, didn't mean to make fun of your comment. Esteem is all aluminium body, so even though it is reinforced and all that, in case of sever crash, it will never be as safe as a better built european car. It is a light car which doesnt serve its cause so well at quite high speeds.

Rubbish - it is a steel body - or rather high tensile tissue paper - if it was aluminium, it would cost more than a Baleno and your local garage would not be able to weld it.

Sail is a good car. Good safety and build quality but high maintainence and exells in nothing except ride quality.
Esteem - safety and build quality?
Wagon R & santro - safety, build quality & performance?

From ur requirements from ur car i feel the fiat petra 1.6 petrol will satisfy you completely. Amazing that you didn't even consider it

isnt it?

andwatt about the resale of the petra and even the fuel consumption is on the higher side ( tough it is not a deciding factor , i think it is under consideration for sure ) .

well manson
if the road is as bad as i hear it is then the petra has to be the car ...
FE isnt as bad...
my car gives 8.5 - gtx - in bombay traffic ....
resale need not be bad ...
coul improve also ....
hey simran see the thread on a crash between an octy an an esteem ...
if that aint proof ... kick your car really hard or just jump and land on your ass on the bonnet ...
i dented my old esteem that way while its near impossible to do that to a palio

Hey Satya,

I had posted elsewhere that I had to reduce the budget courtesy my wife taking the 800 that I was planning to exchange. Settled for a Xing (The discount helped )
