Default Discounts in march?

Does it happen that companies would tend to push out inventory in march to record higher financial year sales, and so one can expect dealers to give slightly higher discounts in march?

I am planning to buy a car soon, but can wait for a month if a decent discount can be expected in march.

Tips on getting a good deal on the discounts, if any?

Same question from me !! Does it make worthwhile waiting till March end and then make a purchase ?

I picked up my baleno around the same time in 2006 and had gotten a whopping discount.

Yeah. You can expect some god discounts in March as that will be the year ending (financialy) for some companies (mostly Indian origin) and they will offer discounts.

Yes, there is a high probability of getting some good discounts in March which is the end of financial year for companies and they typically do not buy for depreciation benefit purpose ( if they buy in April, they can claim for entire year or something like that). I bought in Mar'07 and got insurance free on Swift.

most of the companies out there have done extremely good like maruti and hyundai .tata have done good too.all others are not worried much for market share or volume.so it will never be like all the previous march but still some thing should be there up the sleeve.waiting wont damage anything as maybe some new models would come up too.

But the probability of getting car loans is very less in March except from SBI.

My suggestion is take TD of the cars and finalize which car you are going to buy. Come march, you can just start calling them (the dealerships) and whoever gives the most discounts you can book your car. Remember, most of the discounts will be announced in the 2nd/3rd week of march.

Snanorikar has a very good point.
First zero in on the car you like by taking test drives. That way you have a month to take test drives of as many cars as you wish and zero in on which you want.

Come March, find the best deal. This way you spread out all the work and hence it does not disturb your daily routine and everything is done in a very relaxed manner.
Not to mention the fun you will have in taking so many test drives lol

It's normal in the case of Swift petrol. I've seen the same discounts in almost all months !
