Default Am I paying too much for Getz 1.3 here? Is ABS needed ?

I have decided on the getz 1.3 and the choice is now between GLS and GLX. I need to know how important is it to have the ABS element in a car.
The only difference between the GLX and GLS is that the GLX comes with ABS and alloys. But those alloys that come with the GLX are not what Id like to have and I'd be going for new ones. The exchange offer gives me just 7000/- off on a new set from my local tyre shop. So I've thought of going in for the GLS instead. The only decider here is whether or not the ABS is important enough to stay on the GLX.

Help me decide ...

Default Am I paying too much for Getz 1.3 here?

I have got a quote for a Getz 1.3 GLS as follows from Modi Hyundai in Thane. I stay in Mumbai. Thane is close to where I live and hence the decision to purchase from there.

Cost on road: 558,921/- [inclusive of Insurance Rs. 15,148/- and Registration Rs. 44,400/-]

for a 5 year loan Im paying an emi of 10493 per month.

He said there will be a discount totalling to 20,000/-
and he will be giving me add ons like teflon, sony mp3 player with two front speakers, 2 free services... thats it.

Can I get a better deal? ..or more freebies in this one?

Should I argue for free insurance, remote locking, mudflaps, seat covers , mats, 4 speakers instead of two in the total accessories given free.

Its my first time buying a car...

help

GLS seems to be the better option. I don see ABS much of an option.
How often do you hit the highways? You should demand for freebies.

I would bargain for a cash discount in lieu of ALL the goodies that he is offering. They are useless and you get better stuff outside at lower prices. Save the money and get ABS

Go for the ABS variant. IMHO, its better to stick with the O.E.M alloys, no matter how ugly they look. If you are CAN'T live with the alloys, change them after sometime or try different shops for a better buy back.

O/T

If people continue to opt out of ABS then it will take a while for it to become a mainstream feature of the mid/low segment cars.

Im glad Tata has offered airbags/ABS on the dicor, I truly hope people accept it.

Maruti for example offered ABS on the Estilo but Im not sure if they actually delivered any

ABS man. You buy life insurance, don't you? And spend like 10-20k per year on that? ABS is a one time cheaper investment in comparison.

baaki aapki marzi.

ABS should be the option that you need to take. I am saying need is because without abs, you could be taking a chance with your life. So go for the ABS version only.

Dont know why Hyundai is simply overcharging for the 1.3 now that 1.1 is here. Why are they doing this when there is no other car they offer in the same category with same engine ?
My colleague got a gvs that is basically somewhere between a glx & gle, for Rs. 4.9 lacs.

OT. The dealers are also to blame for ABS not becoming a standard.

To the customers who don't know any better, they say that ABS is not needed, especially in city. Now, the chances of ABS kicking in, for sedate drivers, within city limits are very rare, but then, not everybody makes a claim on their life insurance, do they? It is for an eventuality and the dealers should advise customers thus. False information handed out by the nitwits employed by dealerships is not going to help at all.
