If you need to seat 5 adult passengers then, i'd suggest a small C than a big B. Of all the cars in your budget, i'd suggest the Accent, Indigo and Esteem...in that order!

I've never liked any other vehicle after i drove this one.. The hatches from Maruti and Hyundai felt like toys and very unsafe on bangalore roads. Although they are fast and reliable, but not as safe and sturdy as our own Amby..

Check it out..

Did you check it out ??

Deeps do you mean Indigo Petrol? Esteem is dated. Don't know much about Accent. I guess that leaves me with Palio, Petra, Ford Ikon, Accent.

BTW I saw http://fiat-india.com.

With a monthly run of upto 1500km, wouldn't a diesel (turbo) Indigo appeal to you?

looking at your needs accent is well avoided..
no power, lots of fuel, not very spacious or even very comfortable
here are the pros and cons of the rem cars -
palio -
pros - looks, comfort , space , safety , build quality, handling ...
cons - the goddamed FIAT brand
overall - best small car available in india

petra
pros - same as palio + performance and boot space
cons - same as palio
overall - the best car out of your shortlist

ikon -
pros - looks, rear seat space, driver friendly, service, resale value, FE
cons - performance (i am considering 1.3) not very great , cheap interiors
overall - good drivers car that lacks punch

if you are considering a diesel, you have only 2 options -
indigo diesel -
pros - diesel economy, power , space
cons - so-so build quality , looks, driver pleasure, refinement

palio diesel
pros - same as petrol palio + FE
cons - same
better then indigo diesel if you dont care about a boot

Bingo!

Although I didnt wait for Swift I had to wait! Thanks to my extended overseas assignment.

Swift Vxi (Black) it is going to be. Thanks for your suggestions. I wanted to post my decision as I have seen n number of "What car" threads where thread starter goes absconding in the middle of the discussion.

Expect a lot of queries in Loans, ICE and other relevant sections. Have already posted one in Tyres section.

When I went for a test drive I had a couple of things in mind (based on various reviews)... Backseat being compared to "Bakadaa" and luggage space. Well I would like to mention here for future Swift buyers that back seat might not be in the "Spoil Yourself" league but its acceptable. If you want 3 people seated comfortably in the back seat go for it.

Luggage space I would say is optimum. Sufficient enough to carry 1 week's stuff for 5 people.

Disclaimer: These are my personal views. Please visit a Maruti dealer and decide for yourself.

BTW Any team-bhp preferred Maruti vendors in Mumbai? I have already visited Spectra(Goregaon). A friend suggested VITESSE, Worli. Please advice.

Default Turbo Indica

I think the new Turbo Indica is wonderful car for the following reasons.
Higher Power
Higher Torque
Bigger Tyres
Better suspension
Better gearing ratios than standard Indicas

The Indica just takes off when tacho touches 2000rpm and when the turbo kicks in. It is very stable at speeds of 130 kms.
