Good point, kuttapan. I don't know about Getz 1.1, but the AC in Swift petrol needs to be switched off at low speeds to get better grunt, as in the WagonR.
I am not sure about i10, but Santro has better low end grunt in city driving.
How are the FE figures for Getz 1.3?
Dceite, I too think you need to hold on to your Waggie for some more time. I am still holding on to mine, though it is nearly 7 years old, and has 47 K on the odo.

Hmm I thought he was reffering to "Internally Electronically Controlled ORVM's"

Hyundai i10 Magna- Decent engine good for city . Overpriced for sure.
Wait for 1.2 P if you zero'ed down to i10.

Swift VXi- I think this should suit your requirements. Only drawback
being rear seat space & Rattles

Palio Stile MJD SLE- Awesome car ! Everything is appreciated but the interiors & A** are a let down.

Hyundai Getz 1.1 GVS- Underpowered, Expected to be replaced by i20 soon.

As few members had suggested wait for few months & there will be many launches . Swift might get next gen series of engine end of this year( K series or something if imnot mistaken). i20 will be out.
If you need to change your car right now Swift vxi seems to be best bet.

OT -
How come i10 is still overpriced?
Just because other cars are on hefty discounts doesnt make a new launch overpriced.
When it was launched, people said that it should have been 25-30K cheaper. People have started getting discounts upto 25k on i10 now (a user of this forum in Mumbai got that deal).
Can anyone tell me what should be the RIGHT Ex-showroom or On-Road price of I10 be?

And when 1.2 will be launched, will it not be priced that way and same thing of overprice will come.

Well I10 Is overpriced When you compare it with its immediate compititor that is Spark. Difference being of more than 50K. And its overpriced because Hyundai hasnt discontinued Santro yet. I10 will gain right price once I20 Launches.

You will see all jet aircraft with non-glossy instrument cockpits and even the nose outside of the canopy or cockpit is painted in dark and/or non-glossy paint.

About the beige, it depends on the car. We had a Daewoo Nexia which had beige interiors and that car was a strain to drive when the dashboard reflected. However, this wasnt a problem on any other car with light interiors. It might be a problem in the i10 though. Go for a TD in the middle of the afternoon and see for yourself.

i10 is a great car. We bought an i10 in the family a couple of weeks back. Neither I nor my sister experienced dashboard reflection. Will try to look for it and share the experience. However Magna doesn't have power adjustable ORVMs and Magna(O) is overpriced IMO.

There is one thing about i10 that I would like to mention since you talked about back seat comfort. The seat is quite comfortable but with 4 adults in the car, it feels well... small to people sitting on the rear seat, however while driving (or riding shotgun) it feels quite spacious. Getz and Palio and a segment above as far as space is concerned. When we were buying i10, we looked at Getz but its interiors felt very dated compared to i10 so didn't consider it.

Thanks all from your responses.

I think i have to listen to my mind rather than my heart, and wait. Probably till next year when newer and better models will be out. And i might then go for a segment above, but it will be a hatchback nevertheless.

Now then!
With the i10 1.2 coming in the picture, my confusion has again resurfaced.
The car is supposed to be a good performer, together with class leading features. Initially i was thinking of waiting till Suzuki Splash's release in India, but i10 Kappa has again put me in a Dilemma.

By the time Splash is released, the resale value of my WagonR would take a nosedive, and also, Splash's interiors (from what i saw in youtube videos) is not as class leading as the i10's.

Add to that, the rear of Splash looks too cramped, specially if you see this video:

The interior quality of Splash too is suspect, since Maruti is known to use cheap plastics in small cars, and in the video itself it doesn't look too good.

So the question is, should i consider the i10 Kappa Sportz now(ofcourse after getting the TD reports) or is there still something to keep me thinking about?

Go for the i10 1.2 . Im finally supporting the i10 now as i always felt it needed a 1.2 . Splash launch will take sometime. If you ready to go a segment higher then Honda Jazz would be an awesome choice( obviously it wont be cheap). Also dont expect its launch anytime this year.

Since this point has elicited quite a few responses and counter responses, I would like to say that at certain times of the day even cars with regular grey/charcoal dashboards reflect annoyingly. The solution that works for me is to wear polarised sunglasses. Try it.

Sorry. I dont mean to add to your dilemma but just wanted to know why the Palio Sport 1.6 is not in your list.

I'm asking because i saw your requirements are
1. Reasonably spacious. Atleast more than wagonR
2. Decent lower end and in gear acceleration. Outright 0-100 does not matter.
3. Power windows, adjustable OVRMS, good AC.
4. Refined engine.

Thomas...U read my mind!

But I suppose along with those requirements, he requires plush interiors and ofcourse a good resale value which both Palio suffers from at the moment!

Hope the GP change this perception

Cheers~
