Default PALIO 1.9 2005 vs 2004

Guys ,

I am getting 2 used Palio 1.9 D fully loaded Both Single owners , company owned, and comp insurance.

I have two options

1 . 2005 Jan - ELX ( PW , PS , AC weak)
Silver without alloy and 34 K kms run . exterior is little rough and interior is little carelessly used. The engineis good though . The front bumper has a dent and the front left door is repainted. With no crystal light on the left . The car is a non -accident car and that is confirmed.

2. 2004 Aug - ELX SP ( SRS ABS , ALLOY , AUTO COP with REMOTE)
Great condition exterior . Maroon colour. Good seat covers and clean interiors. Pickup is excellent . But Engine idling has vibrations and acc to mechanic it is the Tensioner which has to be changed ( cost arond 1500 Bucks and dealer is ready to do that ) This car is 44 K run and seems a litle higher on engine noise.

So i am in a fix which to go . I am more inclined towards the 2nd . I have to play 10 K more the 2005 model ( no 1 )

Please advice

Get the 2004 model checked once again. I think that will be the best option among the 2.
Palio engines are usuallly trouble free. My dad has been using a D 2004 model and it has done almost 120,000 kms and no issues with the engine. The pick up and mileage are as good as brand new

I was in the garage with the dealer and some rsearch and found that engine noise is inevitable.

The timing tensioner needs to be canged for the Engine vibration during Idling

Tomorow gonna get the timer tensioner changed and check once again with the 2005 Model.

I am no expert on diesel engines, but assuming that the engine is good for the 2nd one, my vote would be for the 2nd one.

The reason is the SP Pack. ABS is something that Palio needs very badly and I can tell this from experience. Braking is not one of the strong points of the Palio so ABS would for sure help.

just my 2 cents.

IMO, you can go for 2nd car. More value for money. The engine as per mechanic, can be repaired. Pick up the 2004 model.
