My dad didn't manage to find a good car in the used car domain. He now made up his mind to go for a new one. He is leaned towards Maruthi A Star. Could you guys tell me if this car would suit his requirements below or are there any better suggestions?

1. Hatchback, no sedan
2. Petrol (drives less than 700 kms a month)
3. Good FE
4. Easy to handle (power steering and low turning radius)
5. Will keep the car for more than 7 years (but good resale is always welcome)
6. He is around 6 feet tall.
7. Rear seats will be rarely used
8. Decent boot (parcel) space
9. Good service backup
10. Range: 4.0 - 4.5L

Thanks in advance guys,

Nirmal

Dude, Dont buy the A*. Considering that your dad is 6 ft tall, he will feel its a toy car. Have you seen the rear windows ? And consider the size of the boot. I think the A* should have been a 2 door 2 seater car. It was looking good as a concept car and but in production it looks like an ugly frog.

The i10 1.2 Magna would be a perfect buy at your price point, otherwise wait for the Maruti Ritz (splash). If you dont mind dated looks then the Wagon R and Santro are good options too.

Cheers,
Nitin

Hyundai i10 fits all the requirements. Or you can save some money and chose from the old horses Santro/WagonR/Estilo. WR has the biggest boot AFAIK.

A-Star is a NO-NO given your requirements.

Default Decided on buying i10 Era

Hello all,

My dad decided on buying i10 Era finally. Here is the offer he got in Cochin.

On Road Price - 3.98 Lakhs. Goodies included:

1) Remote Locking - Autocop
2) Anti-rust (at the time of first service)
3) Sun Film (not sure which brand)
4) Floor mats & Mud flaps
5) Steering cover
6) Pioneer MP3 (again not sure which model)

Could you please let me know how good the offer is (for Cochin)?

Thanks in advance

Good choice. A new i10 is definitely worth it. How much more did the i10 magna (with kappa engine cost)? If its not much, may be slightly better than the era.
