Default Booking Alto Lxi in August

Hi all,

Iam planning to buy an Alto Lxi metallic colour next month for my in city drives in Trichur and occassional highway drives (Trichur-Kollam once in 3 months).

My budget is around Rs 3.10 lakhs and monthly running distance will be around 500 KMs only.

I have already received quotes from some dealers. I better deal is as detailed below

Ex showroom prize - Rs 274337.00
Insurence+tax+Reg charges - Rs 27604.00
Cash discount of Rs 15000.00

On road prize - Rs 286940.00

Feebees promised are ORVM LH side, side beeder, wheel cups, mats, steering grip, mud flaps, air freshner and a service pack worth Rs 5000.

Just wanted to get inputs from TBHPns before finalizing the deal.

Not in Kerala, but in Bangalore I have got almost the same offer last week. I was looking for Lxi for my wifey.

Here the road tax is slightly more, hence the on-road price too goes up. Cash discount offered is the same-15k and additionally comes a 3k of corporate discount.Freebies offered are the standard ones - mats, mud flaps, airfreshner, 5 ltr petrol, blah..blah. Additionally I am offered to have two picks from sun film/nippon remote lock/teflon coating. Body colour bumpers and music system could be worked out at a cheaper rate, they say!

Now you can see that in comparison, both the offers are almost the same.

Heard that the Alto has undergone many cost cutting measures recently. Does it mean a reduction in already not so great build quality? Any inputs on this?

Just compare a new M800 with a 1997-2002 model. You will see the difference.

+1 to that, I did put up a thread earlier here . I still drive my parents car occasionally and feels like I driving a thin aluminum box with 4 wheels and an engine.

You seem to have got a good deal at hand. When I purchased the Alto LXI here in Goa in May 2008, my on-road price for a 'non-metallic' (white) Alto LXI was Rs 3.12 lakh. Besides, I only got free accessories worth Rs 10,000. No cash discount and no corporate discount.

Regards, Melvyn

Hey guys,
my bhabhi is in the market for a used Alto LXi.
I have come across several examples, where 2007-08 models with around 20Kkm are going for 2.25-2.5L. Is this the correct price for the car?
Would it be better to go for a new one?
Also, about the quality, is there any estimated time when the quality had begun to become suspect?

I think the price in Goa is still the same. I saw an ad in the papers the other day. But they are giving freebies worth 18,000/-.

I picked up a white Lxi last week. 2,86,000 on the road.

I changed the mirrors to the ones on the Zen. I did not have to pay as they said they would include the same in the accessory gifts worth 2000. These mirrors do not look like OE and I am sure I can get a set for lesser in the market. The dealer quoted the mirrors for 1300.

Ontheroad, the deal you have got on the Alto LXI is very good, Alto seems to be a very good VFM proposition now amoung small cars. I remember some time back when Alto used to cost 3.10 odd OTR.

According to the dealer the Alto lxi still costs 3.10 OTR.

15000 is the MSIL discount, 2000 for agricultural land owners and Government staff. However the best bargaining tool would be a quote from another dealer.

I did not want any freebies and accessories and insisted on only cash discounts. The basic accessories like mats and flaps were free. Its best to fit aftermarket as you can get accessories that suit your taste and budget, further they charge labor and tax on the accessories to have them fixed, all totaling to the freebie policy. This does not make sense. It is always best to avail cash discounts. I had asked them to deduct 2000 in cash for the accessories freebie.

Default Booked and Delivered

Thanks everyone for your kind feedback.

The Alto was delivered by Indus Motors,Trichur on 8th Aug.

The cost was as per the details in first post and all feebies were provided as promised. The dealership experience was ok and i would rate them 8/10.

Already covered about 560KMs, includiing a 466 KM Trichur-Kollam-Trichur trip, which gave a mileage of 17.4KM/litre( tank full to tank full) with 100% AC.

Iam satisfied with the car and seems it handles better than my WagonR too.

Hi ontheroad, Congrats on the Alto! May we request you to create a new thread in the "Initial ownership reports" forum section, outlining in detail your buying & driving experience? Thanks.
