Get a Spark. Best value for money product available in the small car range. 15-17kmpl with a terrific engine, power windows and a/c and you are all set to take on the city.

Buy the A Star. Funky looking. Cute. Easy to drive and park etc. Good new engine- new technology. Why bother buying an Alto or other earlier tech product when you have a brand new offering available? Not so expensive to buy and own as well as run and maintain so why not?
Nothing like a new car provided one can afford it!

First car is always a special car for the buyer.
Let it be either A Star or Spark.
Check out Spark LPG also if you want to keep the running cost low.

agree - therefore you should go with the "heart" not the "head".
like it or not - human beings are generally much happier when they buy things from the "heart".

+1 to that. I feel if the person is a very new driver, she should drive a 800 may be for few months till she gets a hang of driving in the Capital. Once that she can sell of the 800( won't hurt too much financially) and then can go for a better car, may be even better than Alto/A-star

Smile Chevrolet Spark

My sugestion is to go for Chevrolet Spark. It's simply superb (on mileage, built quality, space, style, etc)

Cheers!

I think it should be the A-star if finances permit, it's nice, small and funky on the inside. I think Maruti should have priced it a little lower though.

it is going to be the first car so let it be a car you wont regret buying; nothing better than an alto. The point mentioned about lower emi and cramped interiors at the rear would mean that the Astar is out.

From what I see, the dash in the A-star is very high. I'm close to six foot and sat in the A star once but it still felt too high. I don't drive so not sure if you can get used to it eventually. You sure a girl can drive in comfort without craning over all the time? That aside, do check out other options like second hand cars or the Estilo.

I would go for the Spark. The interiors are of far better quality and with the 3 year maintenance plan, the car is very good VFM to resist.

The price is just a bit more than the Alto and lesser than the A-star also. The 4 cylinder is way more refined than even the new KB-10 engine.

She bought a Red Spark last week. Thanks for all your inputs. They were really helpful in deciding on which car.

Ciao!
